Re: Never buy a GM Ford or Honda again

Those who work in the factories obviously find the rate of pay acceptable otherwise they would have stayed with their previous method of income.

If someone is willing to exchange a good or service at a particular price then so be it.

A principal rule of business is to receive the greatest value in exchange for the least value.

I guess you are the only one who does not listen to the source closely. Why China gets bad image? I have no clue. Listen! China didn’t ask them to come to do business but instead the mega million $ worth companies feel that the bucks stop there and they can make their MAXIMUM profits in China. I’m surprise that you only pointed out the GM/Ford/Honda, that most people not favor in here. Speaking of the foreign auto industry in China, VW/Audi should be the ancestor of all. VW has been making $ in China 20+ years ago. However, speaking of cheapness on using CHEAP-labor, VW has no excuse. VW do provide affordable cars for most people there. Whether they build any LEMONs, I have no clue. VW can laugh hard to the late comers. Hay, Mo-Fo, you are late and the coupon expired.

Doesn’t matter VW or else got a plant in China or not. Any industries that involved pollutions will be found over there. No one will stop you loving the forest and ocean. Your government will implement the rules by kicking more businesses out of your own country. LOL. Where is the clothing industry in NA?

Although, the cheap labor issues are often sound serious here but hay, those jobs need to be done. The jobs will fall into someone hands that satisfied with their income. Those who get the jobs do help the world move on become a better place.

An hourly rate ‘McJob’ is like $7.00/+ CAD something. Just barely to have ONE hooligan flipping burgers in Canada. In China, the same hourly rate can have three motivated workers working HARD for the company. Their priority is to work harder for the money, not to form the BS union and on strike or better say ‘Not productive’.

But don't forget that they have a true universal healthcare and all education is paid for. THey also have a house supplied for them which after a certain number of years is theirs.
They are however limited to owning a certain amount of land. We go there every couple of years and don't let the look of their house decieve you. They have most of the modern convienances that we do.
However the recent ban on US cash might change things now,so maybe canadian money will be the standard

Well didn't i open a can of worms..
All i was thinking was, that if they can build them cheaper. Why don't we see the prices level off or decline. one more thing is that pay scale in china comparitave to what the NA workers are making taking in to account benifits

          I highly doubt it!!!

don't forget about the population workforce in China...for every single person there is in NA to do a job, there are 8 chinese doing it over there. So instead of one person running Robot A, there are 8 watching/running Robot A....do you expect all 8 of them to be paid the same as the single NA person? Now I know you can't compare the salaries like that, but it's absolutely nuts how many people are employed over there that do the same thing...

It sounds crass but if they didn't have that there would be nothing at all, it requires outside investment to get the economy running, but for now they need teh small bit, and it will increase with time. The cost of living is also proportionally lower. Its alot the same as our grandparents talking about the money they used to make. It was alot less, and seems like nothing. Give it time, it should get better.

Strange, I don't recall meeting any workers in China who were extraordinarily motivated to flip burgers . . . . Why do so many Chinese emmigrate, often at great peril, per annum?

People don't choose to work at low paying jobs, it's a circumstance of their existence. If you're born into poverty, then how do you escape the cycle? It's too easy to break it down into dollars and cents - it's a far more complicated issue. Sure, there will always be different economies doing better or worse than others, but people are people. Show me a worker who enjoys working in bad conditions with no real prospect for advancement and a better life for his/her family . . . . fat chance.

Go to Columbia and look what multinationals have done there. Go almost anywhere in Central America and ask the farmers what life was like before their greedy governments opened the door for multinationals to forcibly take their land. These companies moved in, took over, destroyed the land, and left . . . and the trend continues. Do you think these people chose to lose their livlihood and to be abused? I think not.

And thats why the world will never change...

The world needs more dreamers then!

We (our generation) have two choices,

(1)Be the generation that changed how the world works (for the better)

(2)Be the most wasteful and greedy generation the world has ever seen, and created irreversible problems for not only our generation but our children (and that is who you should be fighting for, your children and grandchildren… because that’s who you are hurting)

And I think things like the Kyoto Protocol, Smart car and high gas prices are finally a step in the right direction

Re: Never buy a GM Ford or Honda again

It's not just cars, NA has been uprooting billions of dollars in business from here and sending it to China (and Mexico).

A major draw to China is they are very lax on environmental control. Here companies have to keep things like waste, emissions, and such to a minimum with a plan in place to decrease it by a certain amout per year. They don't have such things there (at least not to the same degree). For example, Coal is still used extensively over there, so much in fact that some OOOOOOLLLD BC Coal mines have been started up again for the sole purpose of export.

It won't be long till you can see the smog from the coast. It's sad but no one in NA seems to care because well, it increases profit margin, makes companies bigger, and those companies pay more taxes.

What world have you been living in?! The one I reside in gets worse and worse every year, more greedy, more cutthroat. We, living in north america, have absolutly no right to comment on this sort of thing when we (the western world) are almost the entire reason the world has got to the bad state its in right now. So much capitalism and greed that is basically irreversable. We're stuck in a rut and its going to take another generation of hippies to fix it. Our focus as a society is making money and gaining power, good luck reaching some sort of happy medium when 9 people out of 10 are working against you for personal gain.

Dont get me wrong, you're right about how we're only screwing future generations but its going to take something durastic to get out of this rut.

I agree! But it starts with you and me... we need more people that are willing the stand up and do something rather then passing if off on the 9 out of 10 people argument.
