I can't remember who asked but this is the company that makes the Liberty Diesel engine.. VM Motori.

I have yet to chip one of these but I bet the performance would be awesome...lots of torque.

    Re: Liberty CRD

I was under the impression that the diesel engine in the Liberty was made by Mercedes Benz. I guess I was wrong. But my logic is that since Chrysler is owned by DiamlerBenz wouldn't they use a engine made by the same company? Oh well, good news for VW I guess.

Test drove one a week ago. Nice Jeep

I saw the BOSCH ECU sitting on the side inside the engine bay. I was thinking to trade that Jeep for my Jetta tdi BOMB.

I would drive the sh!t out of a Liberty CRD. Too bad they are coming in such limited numbers this year. My friend (who works at Chrysler) said that most of their allotment have deposits on them already.

When I was in Seattle we rented a Liberty for a week, but not with the deisel engine. Overall I loved the vehicle & it drove pretty well. For me the price is a little too high considering the fit & finish though. If I were looking for that type of vehicle it would rate high on my list though.
