No, not within reason AFAIK....the only time you run into issue is with SIM cards, certian carriers still dont use them (who knows why) and obviously you cant use an analog phone on a digital network and stuff like that

and Rogers and Fido are the same company now so if fido had a better rate Id switch to them, gonna be the same reception regardless

I thought most phones are made for the type of networks such as CDMA (Telus) or GSM (Rogers) and you can switch an unlocked phone between carriers as long as it was the same network type, thus Telus and Rogers phones are not switchable.

Ya, thats the way it works but there are very few CDMA carriers from what I can tell, it seems like GSM is the way to go (search rogers compat. on ebay and take a gander)

edit: How is there a top cell phone place? Dont they all sell the same phones? heh

I look after all the cell phones for the company I work for. We had Telus previously, but now have switched over to Rogers. If you are looking for the latest and greatest, go with Rogers. Telus is years behind.

              Rogers > Telus

Telus and Bell are CDMA, Rogers is GSM (used to be TDMA), Fido is GSM also. Most of Europe is GSM and UMTS but CDMA is starting to make a footprint. In the US, Verizon, Sprint and others are also CDMA.

I'm not sure I'd say Telus and Bell are "behind" I think the CDMA providers are just too greedy to unlock a lot of the features they are capable of.

Id say they're behind on phone technology, just look at their lineup compared to rogers.

That being said, NA is WAY behind europe for this stuff, and europe is way behind japan so everything we get is old crap

I will agree with you there, GSM phones have had a lot more development because of the market size and the way they are used (SMS for example) that's not a big feature in NA.

Ya, I got a new phone yesterday (moto v551) and its alright but...I dunno, call me crazy but I miss my old V60 like a mofo.

I dont need color screens and cameras and 50cent for my ringtone, I just want a phone that sends and recieves phonecalls. Its impossible to find a decent quality phone with no 'frills' Now ive got some camera phone with all this crap that does nothing but waste batery for me.

I do have a cool background that says "i <3 fake boobs" now...but thats about it
