I have an idea about getting a laptop to work as as an MP3/DVD/navigator player. I have used laptops and I have used screens. I want to have a remote laptop screen wired to the mobo of an existing machine. I have hacked laptops myself but wiring a newer screen to an older unit has me a little edgy, anyone have any experience at rewiring something like this? I would entertain the idea of using the external DIN port too if any one knows the pinout for the conversion. The old laptop is a Toshiba and so is the newer screen but the connectors are not the same.

Laptop screens come in way to many video driver formats to be swapping them around, they are next to incompatible :( Take a look aroud mp3car.com for some good setups using laptops
