I have been looking at upgrading my sounds system for the past 2 months and finally have some money to do it.

    Here are some questions:

    1) When upgrading both the stock speakers and adding 2xSubs should I be running 2 amps?

    2) The stock amp that comes with the GLX, should I be throwing this thing out, or can I work off of it?

    3) What am I looking for when I am trying to power just speakers v.s. subs?

    Thanks

    1) Yes, multiple amps
    2) You could keep the GLX amp, but you could also replace it to pump out better sound (and replace speakers at same time or else its a PITA)
    3) Speakers you are looking for a multi-channel amp (4 +) whereas with a sub you want a mono channel amp

Well I've bought almost all my stuff ever from Audio Concepts (even my JL subs when I had my B2200). They may not always be the cheapest, but at least they now what they are talking about and after hearing all the stereo horror stories lately, I think that's important. They generally carry higher end stuff but have a bit of everything. Talk to Jason and tell him Jason Sent you (if he looks confused just mention where I work), he's a good guy.

All depends on budget really, if you are willing to wait the big 4 soundzaround sale is your best bet. The amps I bought at about 1/2 price and I have never foundt hem that cheap again. You can also buy equipement used and I can give you a link to a great canadian forum that sells alot of good stuff. If you have the cash replace everything, you can skip rear speakers for awhile if you want too. I will answer you PM some more later tonight.

Used is the best for amps, you can get a WAY nicer amp than you could normally afford.

Speakers I would buy new... AudioConcepts is the best place for sure but I would also shop online.

I agree with everyone on here about audio concepts, Jason has been really good to me. This will be my second vw that they have done. I trust them. They have some pretty good prices for components, and smaller power amps. Stay away from future shop, has a run in with them last week. Took seven hours to tell me my stereo doesn't work.

It's easy to run 2 subs off one output, just depends on your amps rating how you hook it up.

Does anyone know if you could run an amp off the 12V power in the trunk? Probably not enough amps coming out of it but just out of curiousity.. (not to mention ease of wiring).
