  • *RANT* AWR has taken this too far (LONG)

Alright, I gave them more than enough chances, its time for action....Here's the background:

I was changing off my rims before going to Europe, this was beginning of March. Inadvertantly my friend put one face down on the road, scratching up the finish on the one rim. Sure, I was a little ticked, but hey, we're all human right? So off to AWR I go to get an estimate....Walk out shortly after, $140 quote, and was told pick it up in 3-4 days.....Great I thought, I've heard lots about AWR being bad, and thought this may work out ok! Well, I was wrong.......I call a week later, not hearing from them, I was curious about how far they were.....Well, they hadn't got it finished yet, but another couple days.....Well, I guess I wasn't putting them on till the end of April, so no biggie, right?? I leave it for another bit, and April comes around, I'm about to leave for Europe, so I call them....IT DONE! or so I thought...I go in to pick it up, and they painted it Gunmetal instead of this super silver colour........ARRGGH, this close......So I bring them another rim, for them to use as "comparison" rim.....Well, they tell me another 4 days, pick it up! 4 days comes and goes, no luck....I'm gone to europe for 16 days, I return thinking this is lots of time for them to have finished.......I call them, and they HAVEN'T EVEN TOUCHED IT AGAIN!!!! I almost fell off my chair....I calmly told them its been 1 1/2 months, to paint 1 rim...rediculous.....

    BE PATIENT, IT CONTINUES!

Now, I tell them I want it done and now....Sure, they say, just about 4 more days.....so again, days pass, I call and check, they painted it, but screwed up when unmasking and took a bunch of clear off....so now they say they have to start ALL OVER AGAIN!!! Now I'm getting real ticked, that was last week monday......SO.......I wait another week....here we are, 1 week from then, again they finished the wheel, and, wait for it, SCRATCHED IT AGAIN ON THE BALANCER!!!! Why???? All I ask is why??? Why is someone so CARELESS allowed to work on this stuff?? Why do we allow a business to do this to us?? Why should I pay full price, for a rim that only needed repainting, and has taken 2 months, and 3 attempts??? Why am I so nice to them on the phone??? I can only hope I can put the wheels on anytime in the next month or two......I for one have had it, and won't take any more from them, and am going to seek some form of satisfactory resolution on this, and ensure they can NEVER do this again.......anyone else had this problem with AWR????

        Note to self:

If rim gets scratched just buy new rim.

I will pay a LOT to not have aggrivation.

Next time they say it will be X days why don't you say "And what if it isn't? What will you do then?"

Note: The following question is comming from a grasshopper....

          Who is "AWR"?

I know this probably won't help anyone out, but Regina and Saskatoon "Wheel Works" do great work. My wheels were absolutely thrashed, and after 1 week with them, they look better than new. Dave (Saskatoon) and Gord (Regina) =

Yeah, I would have paid the $500 to avoid 4 months of ********, hours of pestering them, and lord known how much more BS you have ahead.

See how much it would cost to have a lawyer write a scary sounding letter. Probably cheaper than $140.

Be nice until you get your wheels back. Until then they've got hostages.

I had similar problems with them too. Someone really needs to open up a shop to compete with them, I would support them vs. AWR and I am sure a lot of others would too. After all the only way to teach a business a lesson is to hurt them financially.

                        AWR is just ugly.

I had a friend used their service to repair a rim crack which caused air leak. After a summer of driving the same place cracked up again. Repair money paid and dissatisfy. Finally need to get a new rim.

Maybe you should tell them you need them for a show, it sorta worked for brent. And you do! Fahrfromhome! right? Try that, seriously though that sucks.

Has anyone called that other place yet?

It sorta worked but they must have had to hurry soooo much that they forgot to paint the center hubs on the inside
