Re: Nice to meet you all

The white Golf is C.J.'s, the black one is mine.

I think I found my wheels, thanks to that DubModder link. Now I just have to find the money for them. I suspect it will be early next year, when my big, fat tax refund arrives.

I really like the J-line 10SL2 wheels. 19" of bumpy riding goodness. Although, the OZ Superleggeras look pretty hot, too.

J-lines are awesome but pricey! For the money you may also want to consider wheels by iForged.

              heh, J-Lines on a 2 liter

Problem with that is the car is worth 10g, the wheels are worth 5 and tires are gonna be at least 1k for some decent ones.

Re: Nice to meet you all

Ouch!!! Well I disagree on the wheels, I think they are the most crucial component with respect to the look of your car and too often people cheap out on them. I understand the economics of it but I think that wheels are worth spending a bit extra on and some crazy wheels can be had for not a bad price and they can be sold again for some good money and or transfered to another car.

Or just look for those crazy wheels used!!

A while back I saw 18" OZ superleggera III's for 1800usd in TO (and they came with rubber!!) Or some decent deals on IForged wheels as well... I guess you just have to be patient though...

Re: Nice to meet you all

I'm definitely planning on buying the wheels used, I want really nice wheels, but not for more than $2k (and that ought to include rubber). I figure I'll start hunting now, and hopefully find the right wheels sometime before I get that tax refund.

If I happen to find a really good deal sooner than that, well I might have to whip out Mr. Mastercard, even though I know I shouldn't.

Since my next car is going to be a MkV GTI (black or red, life is full of difficult choices) I am assuming that I can transfer the wheels. Is that correct?

Seems like everyone and their dog will be getting a MK5 GTI.... Howeve the wheels will not transfer as MK4s are 5x100 and MK5s will be 5x112 which is the same pattern as most Audi and Mercedes cars.

Thanks for the compliment Jason. I wanted an OEM wheel that still stood out. Next spring I'll be getting rid of the wheel gap too.

I've yet to see another white 2-door MK4 in the city.

Edit: ok, I guess it's not Heathers because I just saw Blairs wheel comment.

I would love to get my hands on an MK5 GTI as well, but I don't think my Bank account will agree with that purchase. Hopefully 2 years down the road things will be different.

Blair, and news on when the Smart will be arriving?

i really want to trade my jetta in for a mk5 gti (still have to drive one) or a b6/7 S4 but it will be such a pita to part my jetta and sell the parts then start all over again lol.. for some reason my brain thinks i should grow up .. keep the jetta and quad my monthly house payments and have my mortage paid off in by the time i'm 26

also i'm still really contemplating a big turbo setup.. i have enough now to do an apr3 kit but no fmic.. but for the cost of all that is pretty nutso so i may have to roll the dice ... or just put on a fmic.. i need the look of a fmic on my car
