Oh yeah, I guess I should have mentioned that I am a Systems Administrator / Network Engineer Level II. Whoopie!
The way around corporate security is relatively easy - remote desktop.
I remote desktop in to a machine I have at home and then do all my MSN and surfing from my home machine through the remote desktop. Of course the encryption is turned all the way up so it's tougher to snoop. I've got a dynamic IP redirector so I don't need to worry about my IP changing.
Some networks won't allow the use of RDP (port 3389 usually) so you can 'adjust' your remote desktop to use port 80, or you can set up a terminal services web portal. That's where it gets a wee bit more complicated.
I tried setting up a VPN to home but couldn't get the home network and the work network to co-operate well on the same machine.
I design/verify ASICs at a small high-tech company in Ottawa. I get a lot of 2 minute breaks while things compile/run so I get lots of 2-minute surfing intervals
Yo Flanders! I didn't know you were on this site too... I just found it!

Eh, any decent piece of network gear is gonna block RDP requests coming thru 80 haha!
There are a ton of anon. surfing programs out there, all it is is a proxy server that will spoof you a different IP so it looks like you're coming from elsewhere.

Is the Calgary fire dept looking for firemen? My future brother in law is looking. He has been a volunteer fireman for 4 years now. He actually trains people too. I'd like to see my sister move to cowtown from Ontario.
