  • BMW - Speed Limit Exceeded?

Hey Guys - I was talkin to my dad today and he was saying he's been lending his 2002 7 series to my brother (hes from out of town, has no car here) and today he gets in and the car dings and says "Speed Limit Exceeded"...My guess is that comes on when you hit the governer, would that be correct?

and I tried googling it but could only find some info on an e31 835 which was no good to me

    Anyways, Im just curious!

Or could it be a "valet" type feature? Perhaps it will tell you if one of the other "users" went beyond your parameters? It's a long shot but in a 7 series it's quite possible. Like if your dad set it to say that if the car is taken over 150km/hr or something.

Actually Jason, thats not a long shot at all, they had that feature in the 835's haha, so I know it can be done in the 7 however my dad can't be bothered to sit down and spend the 3 month intensive training course for I-Drive hahah...

As far as for how fast the 7 can go, Im not sure but Ive got at least 190 in it and it had alot more give

If you can figure out the software for the OBC (being the geek you are that should not be hard ) you should be able to see what it is set at by defaullt and then when you know you are going to use the car set it high, when your brother uses it set it for 150kph or something.
