I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a store in Calgary that sold the V1. I know I can get it from their website but I'll get screwed on the duty and exchange rate and it will end up costing me $650. So buying local would really help me.

    Thanks

Valentine 1 only sells through their website. If you want to beat duties and such, ship it to Sweetgrass Montana and pick it up yourself. That way you only pay GST. I am doing that with an exhaust right now!

Is the V1 still really the best? I know it was 2 or 3 years ago but radar surely has been updated a little.

My V1 is about 5 years old,(or more) and still works as well as My Dads two year old Escort 8500 if not better. Once you have the arrows, you wont be able to live without them.
There are also constant upgrades for the V1, the exterior may stay the same, but hte programs and capabilities change quite a bit..

hmmm, I like the idea of shipping it to Montana, but I have no one their to accept it or even have a PO Box. How do you accept shipments there?

                    Re: Valentine 1

                    OK, here's what you do:
                    Send it to:

                    Your Name here
                    UPS Supply Chain Solution
                    309 2nd st
                    Sweetgrass Montana
                    59484

Make sure you have a tracking number to know when it arrives. You drive down,(roughly 2 hours) and bring down a copy of the shipping info with your name on it and ID to claim it. When you bring it across the border, bring some sort of reciept/paypal etc and go inside the customs office. You tell them what it is, and pay the GST.
                    Thats it! Thats all!!!!

I am waiting on an exhaust and will be hgeading down in the next few weeks. My buddy in Lethbridge sent motor down like this, and worked perfectly!! Its probably best to use UPS for this one, as it is their office you are sending it too...costing me $40 to send the exhaust there from California (Full 2.5" exhaust...not lite!)

And to think I only thought sweet grass came from BC.
So is it really a 2hour drive? I thought lethbridge was 2 hours alone. I would also bring major ID as it seems that is needed to get into the states these days.

                        Re: Valentine 1

Sweet, thanks alot for the info.

I still have a question though, when you go into Canadian customs won't they still ding you with duty and GST? Why would they wave the duties if your not spending more than a day in the States?

If this works I'll have to buy you a beer sometime as you would have saved me a pile of money on duties.

                        Peace out

                          Re: Valentine 1

Since the V1 is manufactured inb the States, there shouldnt be any duty. My buddydid this about a month ago with a full engine, and it worked just fine.
Lethbridge is about 1.5hour drive, then Sweetgrass is about another hour...so I factored in "enthusiaist style Driving"

I should be picking up my exhaust in a few weeks, so I will let everyone know how it goes!
