Yes, the IS lenses are very nice indeed, but isn't available on too much yet. The 24-70 I got didn't have an IS version, and even if they did god only knows how much it would have costed and weighed. I'm addicted to "L" series glass.

The 70-200 comes in an IS version, but only with the f/2.8 version, and it's $2800, so I won't be getting that anytime soon. The f/4 L is only about $1000. Just as sharp, and only 1 stop slower.

Sounds like you know a little about this stuff... are you a photographer too?

I've done a bit of work, some in the UK, but I was shooting film then. I'd do L series over IS (if you can't have both) anyday.

I'm not a pro or anything, just a serious amatuer. I might like to do it for money one day, which is why I'm buying the equipment while I have a half decent paying job.

As for what I do, people pictures are my favorite... mostly candid stuff. I like to try just about everything though. I've done yearbook and wedding photography in the past as well.
