I'll buy one if the cost is right (which it appears to be)...I've always wanted a mac but I cant stand paying 3k for a computer thats less powerful in everything I use it for than a PC.

I'd buy that. looks pimp, and the price is right. I wouldn't want it as my only PC, but it is perfect for an internet/email machine.

Just so you know, OS X and everything before and including OS 9 have nothing in common. They are as different as could be.

But those machines are cool, if somewhat underpowered. They would satisfy 90% of users though because they can do everything most people want to do.

Why but that when you can buy an epia mini itx board that has a pcmcia slot and compact flash. You would have access to way more software and intergration to your deck would be simple. Plus that HDD would die sooooo fast in your car.

The $499 price doesn't include Keyboard, Mouse, speakers or LCD.....It is still too expensive compaired to the cheap PCs out there.

Mac has never and will never have a truely affordable solution for technology. the Ipod Mini is cheap price wise but when you compare it to similar players its a rip off, same with ipod, imac and their servers?! haha I built one for our advert. dept at work (lets say 35users) and its on a SAN so no storage solution and it was still the better part of $20k for a mediocre server, subpar if you ask me.

                          iDontcare, its all too expensive

I bought my ibook for less than a thousand canadian. There was no PC laptop available at that price at that time, including brands like averatec and dell who specialize in cheap laptops.

I'm too lazy to refute any of these rediculous comments right now, but you're totally wrong. I think it's pretty obvious that you just have a hate-on for Apple in general and haven't done much research.

If you want to do some research, compare top tier PC hardware manufacturers with Apple. The price is not as great as you imagine.

And Apple does have a SAN solution called Xsan for use on their Xserve products. Those servers also support clustering and grid computing. Until recently, one of the top super computing systems in the world was an Xserve cluster (recently bumped off).

Anyways... yeah... that's all i've got for now.
