  • Speakers for doors and tweeters

Hey guys I know some of you have aftermarket speakers in your doors. How do you power them? I'm kinda looking at this infinity 6.1 kappa perfects 6.5" w/tweeters but they have this connection box dealy? I assume the speakers connect to it and then to an amp? headunit?? i'm hella confused on component speakers.. or do i have to shell out some more cash and get a JL 300/4 amp not to mention the 500/1 and the 10W7

ps.. i'm buying 100ft of dynamat next week so if i have some left over i'll sell it to whomever wants some

Re: Speakers for doors and tweeters

First off count me in on some dynamat.
Second, set a budget and work from there.
You are more then likely going to be running 2 sets of components for your surround on your DVD player. It might be wise to run cheaper speakers (like the infinities) off deck power and save yourself the cash. Also know that a 10w7 is mass overkill where a 10w3v2 or 10w6v2 might be jsut as good. Also factor in powercable, RCA's, fuse blocks etc etc into your budget.
    Personaly I would go:
-JL 500/1 sub amp (I will build you a bass controller for it)
-Infinity or JL etc components front and rear
    -Fiberglass box and amprack
    -JL 10w3v2 or 10w6v2 sub x1
Run 4ga from the battery back.
Custom shelf under the rear trunk shelf for xbox etc and cap if wanted and the brain for your deck.
Use the stock wirring will also save a hassle for all the component speakers.
I guess we can chat some more about it on thursday

Well, we may be in for a big install day sometime?? I need to get those plans from you brent for the flase floor and stuff so I can install my JL 10w3d4's.....Now, to help answer Ryans question, I'm not pro, but have had over a dozen different setups in my car over the years, and one thing I really noticed was that when I ran components, they just plain sound better run off an amp (especially with a high end deck like yours).....had you been running your monsoon through a line level converter to an amp I would say otherwise, but I think its worth the extra work to re-wire the car and run all of your mid's/highs off of a seperate 4 channel amp.....And that box you're speaking of is the crossover for the components....j
