  • US Presidential Election

I'm not a citizen, so I'm not allowed to vote...but I see an "I Love Bush" person here...how will you feel when your Saudi-loving war-monger is voted out today?

I am not against political discussions but personal attacks are not tolerated here. Everyone is entitled to their on opinion.

That being said I would vote for Kerry if I was in the US.

Sorry...the person I was attacking was Mr. Bush, not the Bush-lover person on this forum...

I actually feel sorry for Americans this election. In all honesty, I would probably just vote for Nader as a protest vote. Both these guys are idiots, and an insult to republics/democracies.

Discussing politics is bound to get people fired up...

They should do elections right-minus-wrong. You are allowed to either vote FOR one person or you can vote AGAINST one person. Your against vote decrements their vote count by one.

I am not sure I agree with people who say they will not vote because they don't like either candidate/party. To me, such people are making an excuse for not voting, and that excuse is ignorance. They most likely do not know much about the candidates/parties other than what they have seen in the popular media, which (lets face it) has little to do with reality and can often be misleading.

I loathe to say this (well, no not really) but I think there are a lot of parallels between the current US election and the upcomming Alberta provincials.

That's an interesting comment. What makes you say that?

                Re: US Presidential Election

It's been hard today with all my co-workers and friends here being in the voting spirit. I even went to a local high school to watch the voting process in person. I truly wish I was able to vote Especially as a Canadian who is so greatly affected by the current administration's foreign AND domestic policies. I think as Canadians, we are inevitably so closely tied to US politics. As for the candidates, I would choose the lesser of 2 evils and vote Kerry.

What you say is really true Derick. Canadian economic viability is tied very closely to American policy decisions. It must be quite the experience being in California during a time like this... as I dont think there has been an election since the days of JFK, that recieved this much attention and thought. It will be interesting to see what the turn-out will be like. I believe the last election was somewhere in the range of 55%. The predictions this year have ranged anywhere from 60-75%.

Dudes, you all say kerry, and don't get me wrong I think bush is a douchebag myself, but kerry is against NAFTA which is crap for us, and with a guy like bush in office, our dollar will continue to climb (84cents baby!)

I think Id not vote if I were in the states, and I know, alot of good that does anyone, but I dont like either of the 2 and nader hardly deserves a vote IMO

Political parties are like religions; everyone thinks theirs is the best, but in reality they are all full of crap.
