Stupid Cops

Today coming S on crowchild to get to sait right at the lights at sacree there were 2 cops standing behind signs pulling people over and giving them tickets if they drove down the shoulder of the road to turn left onto sarcee (coming crow N)

I couldn't beleive this.. FIX THE ROAD YOU STUPID BASTARDS and maybe the traffic wouldn't get so backed up and road rage the hell outta people

On bow trail coming down the hill in the morning, the left turn lane is almost triple long due to people in the shoulder. If they couldn't do that traffic would be backed all the way to my house.

There's a good reason not to drive on the shoulder....During rush hour, that is our only access through that route, so if everyone drives on the shoulder, we can't get through....May not seem too important unless its you or your family we're coming for......so, moral of the story, STAY OFF THE SHOULDER!

To be honest... there have been alot of "official" complaints put towards the City of Calgary Police Department over the past few months. It seems like there are alot of these officers on some sort of power-trip lately. With that said... you always have to take the bad with the good.

Alex a cop???? Must seek out ride along because I'm working towards being a police officer!! Does that mean I can be a voice of reason too???

And I tend to agree with not using the shoulder as a bypass lane. Another good reason is that the shoulder is generally where stalled cars end up and someone zipping down the shoulder is liable to smoke a stalled vehicle -- causing injury to whomever may be in or around that.

Plus, if it was my VW... I wouldn't some bozo smoking it if it was broken down on the shoulder...

I totally agree with Alex and you are right about being strapped to that bed, you should have heard my wife scream when we hit a little bump on the way to the hospital I can only imagine want 4x4ing it would have been like

okay guys well i understand not racing in the shoulder but these peeps were crawling along doing like 8km/hr trying to get home.. i woulda punched the cop in the face and ran over his head and smashed it like a warm juicy cocunut if he did that crap to me

Me a cop?? Maybe next year, if Calgary's precious EMS system goes to the crapper thanks to the government...... SAVE CALGARY EMS

And yes, to show I'm human, it is unrealistic if there is no racing going on down the shoulders, they shouldn't pick on you....but the middle does get pretty soupy every now and then, and yes I have driven it many times!

This has also been a problem on Deerfoot around Douglas Glenn going north in the morning, many people use the shoulder to make the right turn, then make an illegal u-turn and then head up the merge lane avoiding the lights. The police did spend a week sitting there every morning giving tickets, and now they have just put pylons and stuff blocking it off, and it has construction of course too!

I personally dont really like using the shoulder as it is there for emergencies, but making a turn a bit early can help traffic flow but when it becomes like another lane then I have to go with the cops on this one. Some people just need some patience or to leave earlier!

well when this traffic builds up its after work coming home blair.. if you lived up here you'd be going insane too.. in all honesty i dont' take the shoulder either simply because i drive a lowered pimp ride and i'll probably rip my bumper off if the shoulder is sketchy

that being said.. they are currently working on an overpass at the crowchild/sarcee intersection.. well i'm assuming so cuz they are piling tons of dirt on the corners of the intersection once we get a proper road going no more road rage..

plus they are widing crowchild to 3-4 lanes each side the whole way outta town.. currently it goes from 3/4 lanes to 2!! and it just bottles up so bad.

but hey i get off work at 3pm so i don't have to deal with that crap
