In all of the years that I've been driving, I have never gotten a ticket. Last night I drove like a moron, and should have gotten one, but I didn't (luckily). I was going down this road at like 95mph and it was dark out. I thought I saw a car ahead of me (although there wasn't one) so I skid on my breaks. I went from the left lane all the way to the right lane (the back half of my car was up on the curb and the front half was on the side of the road, facing the opposite direction down a one way street because when I was skidding on my breaks the car turned). Immediately the cop came driving up to me. He came over and did the whole "Do you know how fast you were going?" routine and I replied with "Yes" and "I made a mistake, I know that I shouldn't have been driving like that". He asked for my license and registration, of course. I hand it to him, he takes off to his police car for about five, maybe ten minutes. Comes back and asked me to step out of the car. I get out and he asked me if I was drinking. I said "No". He said "Well, your eyes look kind of glassy". I said "Well, I don't know why... I didn't have anything to drink". He asked me where I was coming from. I said "Taco Bell". He asked me where I was going. I said "Dunkin Donuts". He said "You were coming from Taco Bell and now you're on your way to Dunkin Donuts??? Were you smoking then?". I replied with "No, I was only going to Dunkin Donuts to get coffee". He said "Well, there was a 24 hour Dunkin Donuts by that Taco Bell that you just came from". I said "I know, but the doors were locked anyway... maybe they were cleaning, I don't know, but the doors were locked". He told me to get into my car and see if I could drive it. I get in, start it up, and drive it off of the curb and turn it around so it is facing the right way on the one way road. I pull it to the side now and get out. I asked the cop "What should I do now?". It was late and I could barely hear him, but he said something like "I just want you to get home". He didn't write me a ticket.
My question being, if he didn't hand me a ticket while he had me pulled over, does that mean that he could have written it up and was sending it to me in the mail, or there was no ticket at all? I only ask this because I was driving like an idiot and cannot believe that he didn't write me up anything.
