  • Looking for Domain Hosting

Well it looks like my little framed insect business is taking off faster than I thought, and I am looking to put up a web sites ASAP. Does anyone know where I can get some web space & domain hosting for cheap or free. I dont need a whole lot of space for now maybe like 100 megs.

I would be willing to exchange some of my framed butterlfies or beetles for such services as well.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

I got free hosting through 1&1.com awhile back. Not sure if it is still free but it is worth checking out.

            Re: Looking for Domain Hosting

Hrm I'm thinking of moving my crap out of my house to a hosting company. No issues with 1and1.com then? I was looking at a canada company (datahive.ca), will have to compare...

Talk about impulsive - I just signed up and transferred my domain. 30 bucks US every 6 months isn't bad at all.

                Re: Looking for Domain Hosting

I think what I will do for now is just have my domain forwarded & gripped to my Shaw.ca page until I need some more space. I just registered my .ca domain for $12.00CAD per year which seems like a good deal.

$30Usd per 6 months is pretty cheap though, thats only 5$ per month. How much space & transfer do you get for that?

                  Re: Looking for Domain Hosting

1 gig of space, 25 gigs/month transfer. 100+ email accounts etc. It's insane.

Just for comparison, my business DSL which is very expensive gives me 22 gigs transfer a month. My website (just pics and crap) burns about 5 gigs a month.

So I'm going to scrap the corp dsl and move to shaw or something and save 100/month.

That was with datahive.ca? What was the name of the package if there is one?

                    Thanks,

Datahive wasn't bad, but 1and1.com was just crazy so I signed up with them. I won't use even close to my limits, but it's nice to know I can. I got the basic home user package - 29.94 US / 6 months.
