gmail question?

Whats the deal with this new gmail? I got an invite, but I'm wondering what's so special about (besides the massive amount of space). What do they mean by a search based email?

There is nothing really special about gmail, it definitely doesn't live up to the hype. I can't believe people were paying hundreds of dollars for invites.

I guess being able to search your archives is kind of handy if you use gmail as your main address, but I didn't spend 15 minutes installing my pirated copy of Office 2k3 to use web based e-mail.

so if I basically only have a crappy hotmail account, as my University account expires... is this even worth setting up?

I guess it never hurts to have to many email accounts in case the SPAM gets out of control.

There are many things special about email.

One is threaded messages, an idea not used by anyone else.

Another is performance, you will notice it responds much faster than all competitors.

Another is features such as autocomplete and spell-check over the web.

yea what mike said about spam is good i have 4 emails and thats enough for me plus having my own domain running exchange 03 is much nicer.. OWA rules btw but i have it disabled

Yea I signed up for mine too. The storage aspect is nice to have.
