Anyone know if the rear suspension from the R32 will bolt onto a regular mkIV chasis without extensive modifications?

Which parts are you talking about? To do a full all wheel drive conversion you need to change the rear wheel well tub. You can see pictures on HPAmotorsports website of the conversion work needed.

I was thinking of something not so severe. I wanted to get rid of the rear suspension, and go independant like on the R32. Leave out the drive shafts, and everything else needed for the AWD conversion. From what I've read, extensive chopping of the chasis for the drive shaft, rear diff, and what not makes the rest of the conversion crazy $$$.

Adding $9900 to a VW for 4 motion. Why not opt for an Audi with quattro instead? I guess a full R32 drivetrain in Jetta could be pretty cool, but the price is killer.
