  • Sound Quality Questions for Car CD Recievers

I am a huge fan of sony Xplod. Reason being is because the Xplod light setup is the same colors as our OEM gauges lights etc..red and blue! It works for me!
I own a luxury econobox..is that an oxymoron?

I've used Pioneer Premier model (the 700 series) and it was an ok deck, lots of fancy display functions with adjustable EQ, but it was not as nice as the Clarion (sound quality was not as crisp and clear as the Clarion)........I rate it 7.8

I had a Clarion DRX757z (forgot the exact model) in my Jetta.....something like that.....and the sound quality was excellent. Lots of bass, not in a muddy kind of way but with clarity.....I rate this 9.0 (also the light is blue and red, which matches the interior lighting).....

Also used a Panasonic deck in my Jetta and it was better than the Pioneer. Sound quailty was very good....I'll give it 8.8

Personally, if I were to get another deck, I'd go with Clarion, simply because the sound quality is the best I've every listened to compared with the other two......

BTW, if you do get an aftermarket deck, remember to remove the faceplate. and take it out of the vehicle......mine was stolen twice within two years....

I'm an Alpine guy myself, but if I had to choose another, I'd probaly go Clarion.

Peter, I may be able to hook you up at Audio Concepts if you're interesting in purchasing.

Two of my decks were stolen by breaking the window (alarm doesn't even go off..... )....that was the first one.

The second one occured in summer of 2001, when I was away overseas at that time. They did major damage to my car. All the panels of the car was scratch expect the roof. My leather was cut up, center console trim was all mess up......the body shop even replaced the driver side door panel because they tried to pry in through the door handle. This time, the crooks were smarter, they popped my hood and killed the negative terminal on the battery.

So a warning to you all is have a back up battery for the alarm........
