  • Security System Recommendations

    Hi all,

I need a Security system installed on my new vehicle... any recommendations on companies in Calgary that do a good install? And what brand of alarm to buy? Or what to avoid?

My biggest concern is a quality install - no dash rattles afterwards.

    All opinions appreciated...

    Thanks,

    Pete

Sorry... should have been more specific... it's not for a VW. It's for my replacement Tacoma. Right now there is a cheap Command Start and nothing else.

          Bart,
Did you add the motion sensor to your car? What year is your car again?

PM Turbomedic. He used to work at an alarm shop (Vipir Security as I recall) and he surely will have some good input for you.

I looked at some Clifford gear at their booth at the Stampede on the weekend....Looked good but I have never used it. I like the two way paging alarms.

I was considering going to Quinn Security... any thoughts on their work and products?

The two-way system also seems pretty cool, but I am looking at close to $600 for the package including command start.

I think Quinn is where Alex (Turbo Medic) worked. Best to PM him, as I don't want to speak on his behalf. I originally posted Viper, because that's the car they use in all their promotions LOL!

Audio Concepts, I will always recomend them, They have put 2 Compustar systems in my friends cars (never needed one as the cars I always bought already had alarms for some reason). Talk to Jason he's a good guy and no hassle if you have any problems.

The installs are always top notch too.

                      Re: Security System Recommendations

OK, avoid audio concepts, unless you want a good fire to roast weenies...I hate to talk up the Quinn end of things, but we did DAMN good installs....EVERYthing is completely soldered, hidden, factory looking, using 1 peice brains (relays, etc. built in...)....<<-- what that means is sure your Viper system will have a teeny tiny brain, but somewhere else there is this big relay pack (very ghetto looking), with tons of wires (remember relays need at least 4 wires to do anything each).....not cool.....anyhow, I PM'd you....It would also be worth getting a combo system (alarm/starter), but cost may be a factor overriding the factory theftlock during starting (ie: transponder->need key to cut up for use)....If you want to discuss more, I can be PM'd again, or we can chat sometime........

I did find some information on this but this was for a 2000 MKIV and I have a 2002. Here is the link that I found. http://www.swankmonkey.com/motion_sensor/
