  • Anyone ever been to 20vturbo.com? (long and funny)

If you go to the 1.8t vs. All forum you get to read some of the funniest stuff EVER....now I love my car as much as the next but reading stories of how an automatic 1.8t Jetta with only an upsolute chip, N75 and DV is beating STi's, Type-R's and SRT-4's . There's reality then there's delusion....there are a lot of 400+whp VAG cars out there but stock turbo with a chip, wastegate valve and dv ain't one of them! Or how stock GTI's are putting "4 car lengths" from a rolling start on a Type-R or RSX-S....

I love kill forums, always good for a hoot....if you go to clubrsx.com their kill forum exhibits drivers who think their stock rsx kills anything less than a Pikes Peak Escudo....and can run the 1/4 in low 13's....

Haha, in the marketing world we call that "cognitive dissonance" (I believe that's a psych term originally). It's where consumers seek justification and affirmation for their purchases (ie. cars) through peer groups, mags, web sites, etc. Those type of forums are the perfect example of this phenomenon where the owners want to believe that their cars are superior ..... You're right though, they are a hoot

a chipped 1.8T can eat up a stock rsx-s no problem or a type 4.. hondata one would be a different story and up to the driver..

a 1.8T beating a STI is pretty funny shiz though.. you'd need like stage 3.5 lol

remember we buy dubs cuz they are nice luxury based cars not little racer cars.. if i wanted that i woulda bought a wrx instead of my jetta

this part i believe. if you're side to side against a rsx-s in first gear idle and pin it, i see no problem for a gti to pull way ahead, by the time that acura hits 7,000rpm you're gone. heck, my tdi could beat it. i have raced one, in a similar fashion, and i laughed my ass off.

Yep yep, the VR6 has at least 3 RSX-S notches on it's belt too. Unless the driver really knows what he's doing, and can double clutch like a mo-fo to keep his rpms at 6500+, it's not too hard to beat one.

Wether it's by an inch or a mile...winnings winning...

My car couldn't beat anything faster than a dump truck, My scirroco on the other hand (selling for $600 I might add) beat a Honda civic all the way to 70km/h

The thing about some new Acura drivers is...they just don't get it. While they don't need to keep it at 6500+ per se, if you're gonna race from a roll, keep it over 5700 to start so you're at least in VTEC! Some morons don't even downshift and try to take off from 3500rpm; sorry, with your engine, ain't gonna happen. From a roll, it is should be hard to beat a Type S or a Type R even if you are chipped if they are in VTEC to start with (I'm not talking about pro drivers here, just someone smart enough to realize he has like 45% more power above the transition point!). In my friend's Type R he doesn't have to try very hard to keep it in VTEC, let alone double clutch it -- (remember this is a car that is geared so short it is at 3800rpm in 5th gear at 100km/h) shifting at 8400rpm keeps him above 6000rpm in the next gear. The Type S does have the handicap of having a sunroof, and other luxuries like AC and oh yeah sound insulation!

But like Ryan said, we are in these cars because they are luxurious and classy -- it just so happens that these cars can be fast stock and even faster with bolt-ons. If I wanted pure speed I would have bought a 1991 Supra and dropped in a T3/4 into it for the same price I paid for my ride. For the price of new GTI, you could buy two of the same Supras with the new turbo kit...but then you'd be riding in early 90's Jap "luxury"...
(For example, if anyone's sat inside a R32 Skyline at a car show, the seats are amazing but the interior looks like a$$!)
