    Re: STI production

I like how the Legacy GT looks, but it doesn't come with the WRX engine... it has the 2.5L 165 Hp from the Impreza RS I think. Still, there are plenty of bolt on turbo kits, add about 100 hp... would be pretty decent.

yeah i like the looks of that, but they need to put a bigger engine in there. and for your info, its not all of my dads money, its a graduation gift.

I will have to pay for most of the car, along with any mods i decide to do

I like the look of that car Kris. 165hp is a little low, but those Subey's can be tuned really easily

I found some turbo kits online for this car, but for about 100 hp you'd need to spend $5,000 US. And you still wouldn't really be that fast. Maybe it would be better to do an engine swap Now that would be awesome.

Well they have had Legacy STIs in Japan in the past and maybe with the success of the WRX STI we may see more power They are a nice looking car though!

I saw a bunch of Subaru B4s in Japan. I wonder if they are the same thing?

                  edit: Apparently the Legacy 2.0T B4 is rated at 280 hp @ 6400 rpm and 253 ftlbs @ 2400rpm

Even the older ones are nice. You can bet that the suspension is awesome.

Awd would be nice for the type of weather we get here.

Another thing to consider is the extra drivetrain loss you get with awd. A stock wrx rated at 227 crank hp prolly wont see much more than 150 hp at the wheels. Just a trade off for that extra traction.

                            Re: STI production

Hmmm, I have a SCC mag where they dyno a stock wrx and get 147bhp and 141 lb-ft torque, at the wheels.

Also, stock wrx's usually trap about 93-95mph in the 1/4. Stock 1.8t's are about the same. 227 hp vs 180 hp?

I've "driven next to" WRX's and they seemed pretty speedy at the time... might be the advantage of AWD plus better driving

But, I did some reading online here, and I turned up between 45 to 60 hp for drivetrain loss in the WRX, so thats between say 170 and 195 at the wheels if true. I guess 150 could be true... I test drove one years ago and it felt faster too...

Well, to be honest I've never driven a new wrx. Just doin' a little bench racing.

The scc mag with those dyno plots is oct 2001 if your interested though.
