Re: Any European Diesel Lovers on here...?

I have a 2009 335d. Removed the DPF and got a Stage 2.5+ tune, supposed to be around 345hp, 545lb-ft at the wheels (500lb-ft @ 2000 rpms) but I haven't had it on a dyno.
The torque this engine puts out down low is so addictive, amazing around town and highway passing. On my last trip out to Revelstoke I got 5.5L/100 kms, which is incredible for something with so much power.
Its a shame Dieselgate happened because we probably won't see as many of these larger displacement Euro diesels in Canada now and they are an amazing blend of power/performance.

You should start reading up on the E90post M57 forums for maintenance items as these are quite complicated engines. Carbon build up on the intake is prevalent on these, so you might want to look into an EGR block off or delete right away as the CBU cleaning can be expensive (if it hasn't been done already). I've deleted the EGR, cleaned the intake manifold and am looking into a meth setup to keep the intake clean.

I use top tier fuel stations, mostly Esso, Petro and Shell. I would avoid Flying J as they have low cetane as Witchcraftz has already stated.
I used to use Optilube XPD in the tank but it seemed to be more trouble than its worth as I don't drive the miles I used to in the TDI and there is no real solid evidence that it improves anything in retail fuel which is treated already.

    Hope that helps, happy motoring!

For additive, the one that Natty posted (Super Diesel from Liquimoly) is great, put one of those in every tank of the girlfriends diesel just to be sure.

As for tuning, come see me at Calgary Autoworks. We have Malone for that beast.

Re: Any European Diesel Lovers on here...?

I contacted Malone when I was looking for tuning, as he had that listed on his site. Someone responding saying that they weren't doing 335d tunes at that time, and referred me to Jarek @ chiptuning.ca in Toronto. However, this was June of 2015 so maybe they have a tune available now.
Also, there is a local guy at ECUProgram Calgary who does an adapted megaspeed tune for the 335d and can tune on the dyno.
Most people on the e90post forums use Jarek at chiptuning.ca or BPC in the USA as they are tried and true with no CEL issues.

I would have went with a Malone tune if he had a tune available, as I have a Stage 5 TDI tuned by him that I am quite happy with. And he is much cheaper than Jarek or BPC so definitely inquire with BaggedGLI first. The guys at CAW are top notch!

ecuprogram is one of the last options that i would use for tuning.

          i recommend CAW!

I contacted Malone and they have confirmed they have a tune for the 335d's, it makes a gain of 70HP & 125Ft/Lbs.

Do you know if Malone has a tune for a 2014 Touareg TDi R-Line?

Damn! I would have gone with them for sure, would have saved me shipping my DDE twice as well....

Yes they do! They have really stepped their game up this year, they have a full support team to handle daily operations so that Mark can stick to tuning, their support is finally at the level it should be with the quality of tunes they are providing.

At this point we do not have the tool yet at the shop as the ECU needs to be removed & bench flashed, that will be coming soon though as we have had a ton of interest for vehicles that require the bench flashing tool.
