    Hey folks,

I was directed to Hallmark Auto Body in Inglewood to get an estimate on the hail damage my car sustained a couple of weeks ago. I just got the estimate back ($6,500 - yeeouch!) but was intending to take it to ECO Dent Repair to do the actual work as I've had a number of people recommend them.

Trouble is, ECO can't get my car in until October 11th (!!) and as I'm quickly becoming dehydrated from shedding tears each time I look at my car's dimpled face, I'm inclined to try and go with a different shop who can get me in sooner.

My next favoured choice is to go with Continental Auto Body as I've used them in the past and they were great, but they may not be able to get me in until sometime in September.

The third option is to go with Hallmark who can get me in as soon as August 31st, but after reading an old thread on Beyond about a Hallmark Horror Story (http://forums.beyond.ca/st/213523/ne...ark-auto-body/), I'm a bit flummoxed as to what to do.

On the one hand, the thread on Beyond was from back in 2008, so is perhaps a little less relevant 8 years later (I couldn't find any other bad reviews in my online search), but on the other hand, even hearing that one person had an issue with Hallmark has me feeling a bit anxious.

So my question to all you fine folks is threefold:

    1. What's the skinny on Hallmark? Decent shop? Or should I steer clear?

    2. Am I just being too impatient and should I just suck it up and wait the extra time to get into Continental?

    3. Or should I really, really suck it up and just wait to get into ECO in October? (bearing in mind I'll be a weeping mess for the next 2 months)

    Appreciate any and all input!

I'd say wait and take it where you know they'll do the best job. October doesn't seem like too bad of a wait considering how much hail we've had. When our MDX got hail damage a few years ago, I think it was a 5-6 month wait to get it fixed.

To answer your question, I'd wait for your preferred shop. We're talking about a difference of less than 6 weeks between your first and last choice! Seriously... Just wait! Judging by the anxiety in your post... why would you "settle" for less?

On that note, why not Cosmos Collision? Sure... call me a Loc-fan-boy... but he's never done me wrong. Besides... one drive through his "lot" and your anxiety will be cured as he definitely takes care of many of Calgary's finest automobiles. Tell him your a ED member and numerous guys on the site are huge fans of his work and I'm sure he'll do what he can to fit you in.

Anyhow... that's my $0.02 worth. Good Luck!

Depending on the damage might be cheaper to buy a new hood and get the rest PDR?

One of things I don't miss from Calgary was the hail. :(

Thanks for all the input so far, guys!

I know I'm probably letting my impatience cloud my judgement. I just hate not having the car 100% perfect and the longer it takes before it can be returned to its former beauty, the an already sucky situation seems that much more sucky.

All that to say, even these few doses of perspective from you guys makes the decision pretty clear. I think at this point I'm more inclined to go with Continental as I know them and they do good work. Plus they can get to the car a little earlier than ECO can.

Even if that means I'll have to keep Kleenex in the car to wipe my tears for one more month!

I'm still working on quotes, only have the one for 5500 right now.

Maybe pm Evan on here and check out uber?

I agree with the others, wait for the good shop

Hi Chris. Sorry to hear about the damage. I'm not sure if you're able to choose another shop but if so, you might want to check out DNT Repair on Memorial Drive near Bridgeland. When I first got my Coupe, I took it there to have a large number of dents removed from several different panels on the car. They did a fantastic job and I felt really good about leaving the car with them.

This is what I write about them on my Coupe thread back in 2014: "Got the car back from DNT Paintless Dent and Hail Repair on Memorial Drive later this afternoon. They worked on it from around 10AM this morning all the way up until just before 5PM. They removed all the dents I identified plus a few more extremely minor things I wasn't even too worried about. Guess they really love what they do!

Have to say, this was an extremely pleasant experience with some true car enthusiasts who really take pride in their work. Car is immaculate. Kenji - if your reading this, thanks for the great work."

                  Thanks, guys!

I wound up booking it in with Continental and as a bonus they were able to get me in a little earlier than they thought. Feels like the right decision to me.

                  Appreciate all the feedback!

A friend of mind experienced the same - went to Maranello the next time and was thoroughly impressed.
