  • digital torque adapter

I want to test out my torque wrenches to see how accurate they are and allot of the YouTube videos us a digital torque adapter to do it. So I have a few questions, are there any brands better then others? What is the best unit for the price? is there a place in town you can get your wrenches tested for a good price?

Are you doing anything that critical or is this an obsession with minutia? Personally I'd just buy a second torque wrench and compare if I was that concerned, and in the end I'd have two wrenches.

There would be a half dozen places in YYC that can check TQ wrenches here's another i know of http://www.aerocorpavionics.com/services.htm

            Re: digital torque adapter

Not a bad idea to check once in a while. I have 3 different sizes and they checked out within their spec. I think Brent had one blow out really bad.

You could buy a second as a check, but I have 3, and buying three others to check them would get expensive...

Probably common knowledge, but if you store them without backing off the adjustment first they will go out of spec much faster too.

Hmm, I remember seeing a torque wrench at one point that didn't need to be returned to base before storage.

Totally possible - I'm not that up on different types. I think the typical twist base type where you are stressing something in there to set them shouldn't be stored under stress though.

                  Re: digital torque adapter

I have two 1/2 wrenches already , I did and axle about 30k km ago and now I have noise from the wheel bearing now so it has me questioning my wrench in the upper range. For me not worth paying $100 to check a $100 torque wrench. I will do the old fashion way of hanging weights to test it, and watch for the princess auto unit to go on sale.

                    Re: digital torque adapter

A cheap alternative is a simple beam tq wrench and a couple adapters as your means of comparison.
