    Re: 300,000km!

I had a 1991 Honda Civic Si that I retired at 472,000 kms.

I bought it with 275,000 and only had to perform only wear and tear maintenance on it. It had the original engine, transmission and even the clutch never needed replacing while owned it. I finally retired it because the area where the rear trailing arms attached to the body had enough rust to compromise its integrity.

It was a fantastic, lightweight, nimble car with manual steering that gave incredible feedback. It never left me stranded at the side of the road, even when it got long in the tooth. I replaced it with volkswagen golfs, jetta and now an A4 and never kept any of the cars to such high mileage. I doubt any of them would have made it that far.

I had a 1998 pathfinder that was at 398 000 when I sold it. Body showed its age, but probably the best condition mechanically out of any of the cars I've owned.
