  • I have the parts you are looking for - scam?

This has happened to me on the local Vancouver Dubberz forum:

Just letting everyone know, confirmed scam!

I made a wanted post in the classified stating am looking for a mk7 door and received an response from person A using the internal email contact system. Person A emailed me with with the contact email of person B who supposedly has the part I am looking for.

The person A's email repeatedly used the word "trustworthy" sometimes in Capitals - which made me suspicious.

I contacted the person B and the response was that the part was available but the seller would take a bank transfer only. As I don't do bank transfers to people I don't know, I offered to use paypal and cover the paypal fees, and haven't heard back since.

Feels like a scam to me, just letting other out there know in case this is something other people have had happen to them!

Edit: another couple of people have confirmed this is a new scam tactic!

nah don't trust them it's not worth it, have you called the dealer and ask about how much a door is? You could also try craigslist if you haven't already. I almost got scammed once buying my steering whee on vwvortexl from Quebec and he tried to not ship to me for the longest time until I said I'll report to the police for a scam, never transferring money to anyone that's not on a legit selling website.
