  • Interesting Decision

This is new today... a Quebec court just sentenced a man to 18 months in jail among other penalties for killing someone while speeding, and the interesting part is that they used the "black box" in the car to do it. It records everything that happens before a crash. This is the first time in Canada that such a device has been allowed as evidence in a case.

Here's an article discussing it. Toronto Star

well first off for doing 130-160 in a 50 zone!!! you deserve to have you face smashed in then your ass pounded in jail for 18 years not months! and since he killed someone i would never let the bastard drive again and give him a long sentence for man slaughter

big deal, i bet vw's ecu would give more info than that! but why do they need a 'black box' to figure out that the car has been put into a thousand pieces...? i'm sure going 50 vs. 130 and hitting another car would be easy to differentiate... no?

Yea... that guy should be behind bars. The Police specialists are amazing at telling speeds in accidents even without those boxes. Using skid marks, and impact reports they can basically figure most things out even without the blackbox.
