  • need some input guys

    Hey Guys,

as some of you know, i picked up an RS4 a month or so ago. I bought the car knowing that the front bumper had to be repainted as there were lots of rock chips / peeling clear coat on it and weirdly, the whole front end except the bumper had a 3M like film. this seemed odd.

I did some digging and found out that Glenmore Audi replaced the bumper at 30k km for the original owner, however it does not say why.

My question is, would glenmore Audi be responsible for the peeling clearcloat on the bumper as the rest of the paint on the car is perfectly fine except for the bumper that they replaced?

any help or direction would be awesome!

The warranty for the paint may not be transferable, but it should be just a quick call to service with the Vin to determine if there is warranty on it.

With VW, the paint warranty is transferable. However, this would probably not be factory paint warranty as it is no longer original factory painted. It might have some sort of warranty though, if the work was done recently.

it was done at about 80k km ago lol not sure if that works

makes me so mad that the 3M wasn't put on it after it was repainted :(

Standard 3m kit is hood, fenders, mirrors. Bumper is extra. It is possible that it never had it on the original bumper either. On a respray though, paint chips much more easily!

welp, Glenmore audi says that the warranty for the paint is only to the original owner because after that someone could have repainted it...

which makes no sense. because the original owner could have just repainted it as well and how would they confirm that. and why would anyone repaint it without calling the guys who painted it in the first place and be like "um the paint job you guys did is peeling"

When the time comes to repaint the bumper, I highly recommend Continental Autobody. They just repainted my front bumper and did a stellar job! And their customer service was top notch. They also warranty their work so if down the road there are issues, they'll remedy it for you.

Ive never had paintwork done, but talk to evan at Uber auto body, he could probably get you a good deal.

Other popular places seem to be cosmos and stampede.

My rs4 will probably be going to screaming paintworks when i go in the spring time. Good reviews from beyond and a reasonable price. Ive heard good things about cosmos but his prices are higher then others.
