Used cars for sale by owner?

Am I missing something? I can not find any used cars for sale by owner. All somewhat newer cars are for sale by stealership or by used car hut it seems.

Is there somewhere else other than kijiji and autotrader I should be checking?

Well in the olden days people picked up a "newspaper" and in the back was a classified section with cars (among other things) for sale. I'm old enough to have seen these newspapers, in fact I bought one today ha ha. Maybe people don't advertise in the papers much anymore?

Specialized/regional forums, eBay, craigslist, and if you're looking in the US, bringatrailer.com.

today's market is showing most consumers are maintaining their older cars and not trading up to new.... which means a lot less used cars for sale.

Yes, I found this also as I was recently shopping for a vehicle. Granted it was a popular vehicle (FX35) but out of ~30 vehicles for sale in the price/years I was looking there was probably only 3-4 private.

I'm not sure why, my theory was that many people are just trading in used vehicles rather than trying to sell privately. So either they are being sold by the dealer or eventually they send to auction (and then ultimately get picked up by the auto huts).

It is frustrating though, but more because people are asking the same price as the dealers and get offended when you offer way less but you will ALWAYS have to spend money on used.

Yeah looking at the same cars I was looking at over a year ago they are the same price and even higher? 5-6 year old Audi A4 some places are asking 20k for a car with 140k on it! That and stealerships that are advertising cars they don't actually have.

i was looking at a lexus isf that has been on kijiji for a few months so i emailed the dealer and they said it sold 2 days ago, but we can get you into a is350. haha

When I was up at my parents' place for Christmas I looked in the classifieds (old habit from pre-kijiji popularity) and there were *maybe* 20 ads, most of them for other places to buy and sell online. It was kind of sad.

Maybe paper auto trader? Do they still do that?
