Hey everyone,
I have had great success with buying parts on here for my 2002 Jetta TDI. I absolutely love my VW and like to keep it maintained. Recently my door speaker started crackling and popping beyond my comfort level so I picked up 4 speakers to replace the original. I am hoping to find somene who has replaced these before and willing to help make this a quick swap. I have done this on previous vehicles so I will help in any way but don't have any tools. Even if someone can lend tools I could do this and give some money for borrowing tools.

Not interested in physically helping but here is a rundown assuming you purchased OEM speakers. If you purchased aftermarket speakers it is quite a bit longer and more complex.

Tools needed:
- #2 &#3 phillips
- T20 torx
- Drill & drillbits
- Rivet gun with rivets

Take the door panel off, 3 torx screws at the bottom and two #3 phillips behind the door pull/interior handle and a single #2 phillips at the front of the panel below the tweeter
Drill out old lower speaker & rivet new one on
Take off tweeter by use of the torx screwdriver & replace

Pretty easy all said and done

If aftermarket, you may need to add spacers behind the the edge of the speaker to get the back of the magnet away from the window when it rolls down, depending on the depth of the new speakers. Also, with aftermarket, you'll likely end up drilling new holes in the door to mount the speakers, in which case, you can likely get away with some screws as opposed to rivets. Take it easy with the clips holding the door cards on if you are doing this when its cold. The clips can break fairly easy.

The speakers are aftermarket.
I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos and loved at how other guys have utilized the factory standoff. I've reached speakers before, never on an mk4. Also I don't have a single to unfortunately.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know the holidays are approaching so I'm not asking for anyone's time, maybe just tools to borrow/rent.

There are many writeups and videos on the net for removing the door cards on a Mark 4. Just Google it. It is not hard, but helps to know the location of the clips in advance.

Go get these at Princess auto, they are very useful and can save you quite a bit of time (and possibly bruises, cuts and scrapes)
