Post an interesting or random fact!

    I'll go first.

    Elmer Fudd
In the first episode featuring Fudd, he’s actually a photographer who’s trying to get into the art of wildlife photography.
After getting all his camera gear together, Fudd goes out into the wild to make pictures. He then runs into a rabbit. As Fudd tries to capture a perfect shot of the rabbit, the bunny begins to foil the shots and torment Fudd.
Fudd goes insane and angry after this failed photography outing and decides to replace his camera with a gun and become a hunter instead.

    Calgary Stampede:
During the 1919 Stampede, the revelers had their fun suddenly interrupted by the unexpected emergency landing of a Curtis Jenny biplane on top of the midway carousel. The plane was built for the First World War flying ace Fred McCall by his son, Fred McCall (Junior).
McCall crash landed the plane on top of the merry go round during the Stampede because his engine failed on takeoff. Luckily, he and his two passengers were uninjured.

      Atomic Beer?
In 1956, the U.S. Government put several cases of beer next to a couple of atomic bombs that were detonated to see if the beer was still good.

      Fact:
In the case of a nuclear war, beer is perfectly safe to drink.

Ketchup is a non-Newtonian fluid. Naturally, ketchup is rather thin and watery, because the tomato pulp that gives it consistency is removed. As a result, commercial ketchup makers add a small amount of xanthan gum to their ketchup recipes to thicken it. But this ingredient has another side effect: It turns ketchup into a shear thinning fluid. In other words, how quickly ketchup flows depends upon the stress that is being placed upon it.

That ketchup is non-Newtonian is the main reason why getting it out of a glass bottle is so slow. Allowed to flow naturally, ketchup only travels at a speed of 147 feet per hour. The only way to speed it up is to apply force, which through the principle of shear thinning decreases the ketchup’s viscosity, and thus increases its flow rate. This is why you have to thump a bottle of ketchup to get it flowing from the bottle. The concussive force makes it flow faster.

ut despite common opinion, the bottom of a bottle of Heinz Ketchup isn’t actually the best place to thump it. If you apply force to the bottom of a bottle of Heinz, the ketchup closest to where you smacked will absorb most of the force of impact. It will flow freely, but the ketchup that is viscously clogging the neck and mouth of the bottle won’t, leaving you no better off than you were before. The solution is to trigger the shear thinning effect at the top of the bottle, not the bottom.

By simply tapping the label with two fingers, you create the optimal conditions for shear thinning, transforming non-Newtonian ketchup into a free-flowing liquid.

THE POSITIONING OF THE HEINZ’S "57 VARIETIES" LABEL IS DELIBERATE: IT’S A TARGET.

                          The Word Cajun:
The French colonized Canada beginning in 1604, with many settling in what is now Nova Scotia but was then called Acadie. The word Cajun comes from the word Acadian.

The Nike clothing brand is named after the Greek goddess of victory. The winged goddess Nike sat at the side of Zeus. Her presence symbolized victory, and she was said to have presided over some of history's earliest battles.

In 1976, Japan donated 53 bonsai trees to the US for its bicentennial, including a white pine that had been tended daily since 1625 and survived the Hiroshima atomic blast. Its history was unknown until 2001, when two brothers showed up at the museum to check on their grandfather’s tree. Link
