  • Excellent Roofing Contractor - Rise Roofing

    Hey All,

Just thought i'd give a review of a local company that my family and i have used for roofing over the past few years. I have nothing but excellent things to say about the owner Mike Ryzebol, completely stand up guy who is all about honesty and keeping his word. Also wanted to mention that this is of my own accord because i think that he deserves to be recognized for his dedication to quality work.

    My house
My floor in my bedroom had a wet spot near the bathroom door about 2-3 weeks ago right after that terrible tornado/hail/wind storm. I was worried about a leaky roof but after the puddle dried up i just chalked the wet spot up to myself stepping out of the shower wet and standing on the carpet for a bit too long. I also thought it may be my portable A/C unit leaking (nearby) so i emptied it and when the puddle dried up i didn't think about it again.

Fast forward to friday evening last week when it poured all night, i woke up to an even larger puddle on the carpet and linoleum in the bathroom, and the top of the door was actually dripping down. I freaked out (obviously) and went into the attic, dug around through the blown in insulation and found my culprit. I found a 2x4 on edge which was soaked with water (no mold anywhere, this was a fresh leak) which was dripping water onto the vapor barrier and down the wall stud and onto the top of the door. I dried out the area as best i could and gave Mike a call Sunday when i got his information from my family (on the weekend he still answered his phone).

He came by this week (wasn't a big rush because it was supposed to be sunny until friday) to check it out for me. I wasn't available to meet him at my house due to work so we talked on the phone and i explained where it was coming from and he went up on the roof to check it out. He immediately spotted the problem, it was a 8" crack in my metal gutter guard that was installed in a valley in my roof. Pumping the crack full of tar with his tar gun and then cleaning up the outside of the crack as well he fixed it on the spot and it should be good for a long time until the times comes that i want to get the flashing redone. At the same time he gave my entire roof an inspection to make sure the it was the only spot that required repairs and let me know that everything had been installed very well except for that gutter, which was installed with a slight kink in it and over time the kink had lead to this split.

I'm definitely going to recommend him for both being accommodating for me (answering my phone calls on the weekends) as well as taking immediate action to repair the roof in a matter of minutes, and for giving my full roof an inspection to ensure i was good to go.
Cost wise he is very reasonable compared to other companies out there doing roofing repairs.

    Parents Houses

My parents have used Mike and his company for 3 of their roof's so far, one of a rental house (triplex, they did all 3 houses roof's at once), one on my parents houses in calgary that was ripped up during the major wind storm ~4 or 5 years ago, and the roof at our cottage.

For the rental house the cost was reasonable and when my mom got the quote she mentioned it to the neighbours and they also got their roof's done at the same time. They showed up on the exact date they had scheduled a few weeks prior (rare for roofing companies) and were done within the timeframe that they gave. These roof's were done maybe 3 years ago or so and have held up with no leaks or re-work needed.

For my parents house it was the same story, they replaced the giant section of roofing that was pulled up and it matched nearly identically to the roof that was put on 16 years prior. They have zero leaks or issues with it as well.

For the cottage, it is south east of calgary located at Little Bow Resort. Approximately 1.5 hours out of town, Mike and his crew stayed at a hotel nearby and by working extremely long days finished a day ahead of schedule, saving the cost of the additional night stay at the hotel. Not only is this cottage out of town, it is right beside Lethbridge, the wind capital of Alberta. It is windy down there ~340 days of the year with some of the highest wind ratings in Canada (no wonder they put a wind farm right beside us eh). Either way they went out of their way to put more than double the tar and nails in the shingles to ensure that they wouldn't pull or peel up in the high wind conditions. Not only that, the main contractor at the site was extremely impressed by their work as well. They left the yard spotless after they were done, arrived on time and finished ahead of time.

My parents have also booked him in for more of their rental houses in the spring of next year, they have that type of confidence in this guy. That goes a long way for anybody who knows my parents and the shoddy quality of contractors they have to deal with.

    Overall

With their high quality of work, dedication to sticking to their word on schedules and timeframe as well as dollars, I (we) would highly recommend at least giving Mike a chance to quote on any roofing jobs you have, big or small. You won't be disappointed with any of their work.

If you need any more reasons to give these guys a try read about them on their website below or just give them a call and talk directly to Mike.
