  • Backpack for Travel and everyday Business use

I am looking into getting a backpack for a 2 weeks travel to Europe, however I want it also to be okay to continue using it when I get back and need to bring my laptop and few small items to work every day.

Must open like a suitcase, be big enough to fit my travel gear but be carryon compliant, be small enough that I can use it empty without being bulky. I'd also prefer not to spend a ridiculous amount (Minaal, I'm talking about you).

I've come up with the following list, just wondering if there are other options?

(this table is too much work to convert to BBB right now)

    Pacsafe Venturesafe 45
    Tom Bihn Synapse
    Minaal
    Tortuga Air
    Gregory Border 35
    Incase EO Backpack
    Slicks Suit25
    BO Gear Spare Camel 30l
    Pacsafe Venturesafe
    Arcteryx Blade 28
    Marmot Trans Hauler
    Tom Bihn Western Flyer
    Osprey Farpoint 40
    Numinous 25L DaySac
    Jack Wolfskin Getaway
    L.L.Bean Quickload

    I posted it here:

after riding for them for years, I am a bit biased, but the Burton backpack lineup is always worth a look. good styling, for day to day use, but also very technical.
pretty sure they still offer a lifetime warranty as well.

I like the mother lode junior, the regular is just massive! I want to sling it on my back during the week as my commuter bag.

Both Timbuk2 and Burton stuff is amazing but they don't have any backpacks that open suitcase style.
