  • Kickstarter - Conrod App Platform for VAG

I'm quite intrigued, I haven't seen the vid with sound yet but seems kinda cool. Thoughts?

Unless this is a person I know I'd be hesitant to put $700 down for it. I worry about the fact that on Kickstarter type sites there is no guarantee by anyone that you will get the item or a refund if you've backed it and it falls through.

It does seem good in many ways, and weird in others, such as why would I want a sim card so my car is connected to the internet 24/7?

I'd probably wait to see if it gets made and what the feedback is.

Pretty slick. It's like an open source display. He says you can use your phone to download and install the apps right onto the Conrod in the car. I really like the idea.

The great thing about kickstarter is unless it actually happens and has enough backers, you don't pay. The money is only taken if there are enough backers by the end date.

Very cool concept, I'd like to see this working in a car!
            I await Bobs "BRIEF" opinion...

Funny I was looking at Speeduino which is a open source Standalone ECU ( I want to turbo a Ruckus). The OP kickstarter link seems really expensive for and Arduino based display especially since most of what it does is already being done with Opensource Car/Arduino. For example the Arduino board with a few sensors I bought to control a Barn ventilation system via wifi cost me $14 dollars in china parts.
