  • Looking for a good Canadian Toyota tuners site

I have love for many types of cars and seem to be on several forums. I have countless VW's, a couple BMW's, a Mitsubishi and a Toyota.
I've recently started trying to plan a motor swap for my 1977 Celica, but I don't know a good Canadian based forum to use. Anyone have any experience in the Toyota forums?

What kind of engine swap are you looking to do?

We swapped a built 1uzfe into a 73 with a pair of twin 68 mm precision turbos onto it here. Done countless 4agze, blacktop and silver top swaps, sr20 swaps and Ls swaps into random toyotas over the years.

Dorikaze is the best Toyota forum hands down. Although not specialized for celicas.

It really boils down to what do you want to know?

I'm currently looking at putting a 1JZ into a 77 Celica. I'm still open to an options. I wanted to put a 3SGTE into it but I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out a transmission setup. Also there is the issue of the motor tilt as it doesn't sit flat as it would in the Celica which causes issues. I'm trying to find a 250-300hp setup. I'll check out dorikaze and beyond. I can't believe I forgot to look on beyond...

1jzgte is way to long. You'll need extreme subframe and firewall modification to fit in the car.
The 3sgte is easier. Just get a beams from an Alteza instead of an 3sgte from a mr2.

Any of the engine options take a bunch of fab. It's super common in most anything else but an ls swap is a great option. Small, huge power and tons of trans options. Any of the basic 4cyl options are under powered for your goals. I have no idea what you fabrication skills are and that is the biggest factor on what your options are.

Remember you'll need to wire whatever engine and completely replumb the fuel system. Not a big deal but often overlooked. The headers are also a major factor since most need to be hand built.

I have no idea if this helps. But been there. Haha

Re: Looking for a good Canadian Toyota tuners site

It's all still up in the air. I've spend many hours researching. The 6 speed that comes with the Beams is weak and should really be a 5 speed as the 6th gear is almost really a 5th in any other transmission. The beams also only has like 180 or 200hp and that also might not be enough for me. I have a few turbo cars and I kinda want whatever setup I use to be turbo'd. The fab is gonna have to happen no matter what setup I go with. From the research that I've done, and what you've posted, you know what you are talking about for sure. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
