  • Shell V-Power Nitro+

    Some of us received neat looking Shell keychains in a quite nicely packed gift box, advertising the new Shell fuel - V-Power Nitro+

    I'd like to see some actual lab tests of this new fuel vs their current V-Power which they claim already contains the highest amount of cleaning contents vs the leading fuel station (Petro, Husky, Esso etc). I'd also like to see the comparison in the octane rating of this new fuel vs the old V-Power vs Petro Can/Esso/Husky 91 octane.

    Has anyone filled up with this Nitro+ yet? Has Nitro+ simply replaced the old V-Power, or there a new selection at the gas stations? Was the pricing any higher?

        Just happened to fill up with this tonight in the volvo, probably won't expect to see a difference but i'll let you know if i notice anything

            I hope they've done something new to their 91 premium that makes your car perform better...I used Costco premium all the way to Vancouver and Shell VPower all the way back....the only difference was the 7$ more a tank for the VPower 91!

              i'll have to see if it hits here.

              i always try and use the shell v-power diesel in the Q7 not sure if it helps but in my mind its better fuel haha

                Hey Ryan....just an FYI...PetroCan has the best cetane numbers in their diesel fuel, 45-52....
                Here's the numbers for Diesel

                45 - 52 Petro Canada
                45 - 50 Sunoco Gold
                45 - ?? Shell V-Power
                45 - 50+ Autogas/Cascadia Biofuels (British Columbia)
                42 - 45 Husky's DieselMax
                41 - 43.5 Red River Co-op Co-op EP3000 Summer cetane is 46.5, winter is 44.0.

                  What i read there is that the majority of the major diesel suppliers provide a minimum of 45. The higher number i would purely attribute to a marketing number for someone to say that they are above their competition, they probably never reach that level in their tanks, it would be more expensive to produce. They probably hover just above the minimum 45 level.

                    Canada has a 40 cetane minimum rating.

                    For Diesel it's probably a better fuel since it has a higher cetane rating. Shell has stated somewhere that the diesel v-power fuels have a cetane rating of 1-2 higher than the normal. Cetane isn't the only thing to make a fuel better of course but's a big one for sure.

                      Well, I notice the difference in my TDI running PetroCan and Husky diesel max....better FE....and thanks Witchcraft, I wasn't aware of an updated list..I had that one bookmarked

                            is it still 91?

                            in europe you can get 100 vpower nitro racing



                            ok so thats about 95 in american, nothing beats aral in germany though 102
