  • Looking at an A6...

I've been flip-flopping on an all wheel car for ages. I'm looking around a bit again. We are just looking for something a little fun and a little classy, but at the end of the day, it needs to be functional for our needs. This guy has the rear facing jump seat, so meets most of our needs. I'm just curious if anyone has some big things to watch out for on this car (or a similar one), and also, if anyone directly knows this car.

    Thanks guys!

Its a 15 year old Audi.......

Gas prices are suppose to go down, so that premium pain won't be so bad.

Good price though, age is the only thing I can tell from the great description provided in the ad.

Yeah, ad is less than perfect. Seller seems friendly enough. I'm not super concerned about higher miles or premium fuel as this car will be doing only about 5000km a year. This is also why getting a newer car doesn't make a lot of sense.

        Re: Looking at an A6...

I used to have one of these. Common problems include: control arm bushings, ABS module, PCV system, valve cover and cam chain tensioner gaskets. Mine had the 2.8 and was not overly hard to work on. It didn't shift very smooth when I bought it but I changed the tranny fluid and filter and it made a huge difference. Certain parts can be pricey as the A6 was not near as common as the A4. I had to replace the hazard relay which also controls the turn signals and an aftermarket one was around $98 if I remember correctly.
