  • Wipe New Headlight Restoration

A few months ago I was at canadian tire picking up some tools that were on sale, when I stumbled upon a product called "Wipe New." It was a headlight restoration kit that claimed it would give the results of a new looking headlight with a "wipe". I had bought a headlight restoration kit for my lights before, but it didnt really work that well, so I thought there wasnt much hope for my hazy lights. The kit was only $12, so I decided to pick it up and give it the old college "try".

The wipe new kit comes with a wipe with some sort of solution on it, some gloves, a microfibre cloth, and a pad of sandpaper. if your lights appear clearer when wet, then you dont have to sand. if they appear hazy even when wet though, the kit advises you to use the included pad and wet sand a little. in my case though, i didnt have to sand.

I cleaned my headlights with water and dried them, took the wipe new wipe out of its package, and I couldn't believe my eyes. I just wiped this cloth across my lights and they looked better than I have ever seen them. This product was so good that im writing this post on eurodrivers to let other people know about it. seriously, if you have hazy lights. give this stuff a try for 12 or 13 bucks. maybe i think its a lot better because i didnt have high hopes going into it, but this stuff worked. I wish that i took a before and after picture. but this is my headlights now (my car is a bit dirty), but they were a lot worse before

Mine are beyond hazy - thanks for the write up. I'll likely give my headlights a wipe too.

So is it just a bit of plastic polish on a throw away cloth? Did you have to use pressure and kind of rub it in or was it a simple wipe as they claimed?

im not sure if it was polish.. probably some sort of chemical because it had the strongest ammonia smell. Literally just a simple wipe. not any pressure.

any bug spray with DEET will also work. I literally couldn't believe my eyes. spent nearly 4 hours with a traditional kit working on my mom's car, and got identical results with mosquito spray on my dad's.

interesting! I heard about DEET being good, but never bothered trying it. I tried toothpaste before, but that didnt work. then i bought a turtle wax kit, that didnt work that great either. but with the wipe new I couldnt believe my eyes. Too amazed lol

I'm quite sure that all it is doing is filling the scratches with a clear filler. My guess it will get hazy again after a few washes. Polishing out the scratches is a better idea...

It's probably a slow solvent for the plastic. But glad it worked!
