  • Oh merry Christmas...

Oh Merry Christmas everyone, my volkswagen even reminded me of this today!

My dash lit up like a Christmas tree, true to Volkswagen standards....

First was the Alternator light, then my radiator overheated, then I lost my powersteering, then the ABS and traction control light came on, and the Cherry was the Airbag light coming on as well. Called VW roadside (since my car is still under warranty) and they said a flat bed would come tow it in about 14-15hrs from now. (Apparently they are overloaded with the recent snow)...

We shall see how this plays out.

I did get stuck in the snow yesterday don't know if that has anything to do with what happened tonight, luckily my car is sitting in front of my house now...

Hope for the best plan for the worst right?........

Serpentine belt or tensioner, most likely belt since it looks like your car is lowered and may be scraping the belt on the ice too much

Yup the accessory belt is typically run from all of those. If you can get a belt it is usually a quick swap (on a lot of engines, not sure about yours specifically)

Man, this has not been a pleasant winter for your car! I also agree with the serp belt, although i dont see how that relates to your airbag light... but meh, its a VW. Probably just a side effect :P

I know right... I've had a clean record ever Since I have started to drive (minus a scuff on my moms wheel). And now all this stuff... You think the guys at volks will give me a hard time because my car is on coils? I hope not... Calgary isnt too fond of me I guess.. Or my car for that matter.. Hopefully the tow truck will come early tomorrow morning...

Didnt mention in the first post: I checked the radiator coolant: it was boiling; literally. Inside the plastic container.

so serp belt no water pump on the 2.5 = very hot coolant= overheat
Been driving VAG for longer then allot of the members have been alive

^^yup, no water pump means no flow of coolant away from the block and through the radiator. Not a good scenario, hope that you caught it before it got too hot

Buy an Audi, get a loaner
I may appear to be nice, but don't be fooled, I probably don't like you

For something like this that is not going to be warranty I would have said go for somewhere that is not the dealer. If the car showed up at Calgary Autoworks we could have got it in today to at least look at it.

                            Purchase belt
Install it in the parking lot with a simple wrench (used to move tensioner)
                            Drive it off the lot

google the DIY for it, pretty simple, you should be able to buy the belt almost anywhere for $20 or so. Would save you lots of time, trouble and cost.
