  • stud conversion

I am thinking about doing a stud conversion because my new summers are a cone seat, and have a couple of questions to those who have done it. Is it worth it? how do you keep the studs from spinning out when you remove lug nut? Is ringer the best place to get kit or is there any place in town with competitive pricing?
    thanks

Ringer has the best prices I have seen.. and you can get a 14mm-12mm conversion for a better selection of lug nuts. No issues with them coming off with loctite.

I am not sure if they are still in business but this company used to advertise in the back of magazines.

Seriously. Clean out clean out the threads on the hubs. Red Loctite that you let fully cure before mounting wheels (24hs i think) and don't over torque your wheel nuts. Ringer is good and CAW carries them also. Just make sure you get them longer than you think.

          Re: stud conversion

I did this on the Cq and after that it was a no brainer when I needed spacers to run the A8 wheels on the UrS4.

          Makes wheel swaps/rotations a breeze.

Like Bob said, chase the lugs & clean the threads and use some red Loctite. IIRC the studs themselves are only like 18-20 lb/ft and then the 80-90 for the lugs.

When it's all said and done it's about the same price to get them locally (Colin @ CAW, w00t... thanks again man) as it is thru Mike @ Ringer.
