      Purchase price: $55,000
      Summer tires - $1000
      Tinting - $300
      3M - $1100
      New bumper - $2350
      Leather care - $110
      Gas - $914
      Maintenance (oil): $60

Only owned the car a bit over a month, but total cost is $60,834

Put about 4000km on since then... But won't even bother with the cost/km.

The Invo's are very nice for traction (though I can break them loose on a launch easy), but it's hard to compare because my PSS were 255 and on a AWD, and these are 275/235 on a RWD. The AMG has miles better handling then the S4 however, I much prefer it's hydraulic steering over the electro on the S4.

Yeah I got the full kit from them, I spent 3 hours cleaning all my leather today, it looks amazing. Smells like vanilla and new leather too, I love it. Might get some of the matte stuff for later.

If I don't include the seats or the cost of the car I've put about $5700 into it.

                Total km = 40,000
                Cost per km = 0.1863/km

Not going to start counting car washes products as a small bottle lasts a long time.

                Insurance is
                $800/year in Calgary = $800
$1600/year in Vancouver = $3200 (thanks ICBC for the rip off!)

Fuel is $60 tank for an average of 800/900 km so about $2700 in Diesel

Total cost with all that is $14,152 and cost per km is 0.3538/km

Re: What has your car cost you?

Oh yeah, not only that but in Calgary I had 2 way insurance, with ICBC the $1600 is one way. I have been driving for 10 years and no accidents, only 1 speeding ticket years ago. With 2 way coverage it would be $2300, 3 times more than Alberta!

Basically there is a "minimum base price" of about $1200 that everyone has to pay, whether you have a $500 beater or a $500,000 sports car.
Then they charge you extra costs depending on your car, the newer and smaller, the more expensive.
Then there is a surcharge if you car has luxury items such as leather interior.
Then a surcharge based on whether you want one way or two way.
Then a surcharge on how far over 14,000 km/year you drive
Then a surcharge for driving it to commute to work
Then they apply a discount of up to 40% (10 years driving)

So if you have a 2012 911 porsche with 10 speeding tickets and 2 accidents over 12 years, or a 2012 fiat 500 with a perfect driving record over 10 years, you pay the same! Well that is incorrect but it's a lot closer than you would think.

Before we were able to get the driving records to ICBC the insurance on the fiat 500 was $4500! And we were still paying $2000/year after.
A coworker of mine has a 2010 CRV and is paying $1500/year, he gets a discount on living within a certain close distance from the office and because it is an SUV...

On another note, Geob: you've gotten 200k on your TDI with only those mods?

Re: What has your car cost you?

I think you are missing a few fill ups or getting super cheap diesel.

Street price = $1.20 average this year

                        $450 @ $1.20 = 375L = 7.5 fill ups @ 50L fills = 1666 km per fill

Looks like you got a great deal on the car though!

Icbc was cheaper then Alberta's insurance for me when I lived there - moved to ab at 22 -$256 a month in AB - $65 a month in BC with full coverage - didn't live down in the lower mainland tho.

My base coverage here is $1200, that's just for the 200,000 one way coverage. What were you driving? I can't imagine getting that low with anything other than an old boat like 1984 buick.
