I recently came back from the coast and since I had left Seattle at 10am I wasn't going to be in Calgary until 2:30-3am. I stopped off in Golden around midnight for a break and after I had rejoined the highway I heard a sudden thud on my rear passenger door. I didn't think much of it at the time because I still had to work that morning.

The next day however I went to check what had made the sound and to my surprise I had actually been egged in Golden. I'm of course unimpressed with the youth/drunks of Golden but to make things worse I cleaned everything up only to discover that it actually chipped the paint pretty bad.

Is there anything that I can do? Or am I basically footing the repair paint job myself?

i'd say you're SOL but i would pick up a carton of eggs for the next time you roll through golden. street justice is the best justice.

Its going to be on your own dime. It sucks but its realty of owning a car how bad is it?

Sucks, but yeah I was once egged in Willow Park (I would say the shot was 1 in a million judging by my speed and them being on the golf course) but yes it took the paint right down to the sheet metal in a small spot, ended up having it fixed myself.

This is vandalism.

File a police report.

Open a claim with insurance. This won't hurt your rating, as vandalism is a no-fault claim.

^ hit and run. You would have to pay a deductible most likely. I have been keyed before and claiming as a hit and run turned it from a $1200 scratch to a $200 scratch.

When my a4 was keyed I claimed vandalism. No deductible required. And no hit to my insurance rating.

What you can claim and how much you will pay will depend on your insurance company. Call and find out, worst case they say no and you are exactly where you are now.
