Quebec: "Hellaflush" is not road legal anymore

Quebec has just put into place rules banning "Hellaflush".

The rules mean that:
- lowering your car
- having high negative camber
- low offset (non OEM)
- tire stretching

are all illegal practices now.

If you have an accident and your car has one of the above mods, your insurance company has the right not to cover you.

I like how they conveniently left out what widening your stance does when a car is moderately lowered. I seem to recall it improves handling?

I think this is all because some people push the suspension geometry too far without any real knowledge of what they are doing. The bearing and parts wear out very fast and the car because a hazard.

On a side note, I think that the rules when taken in their broad definition will also apply to people who raise their trucks since that is modifying the suspension geometry too.

Stuff like bellow is why the rule is being put into place.

You're allowed to put a 225/40/18 tire on a 9" wide wheel so you can stretch, just not a stupid amount like some people do. 1m's and a lot of Porsches come with stretched rubber, and there's probably more as well. Like the eurokracy article said, it's the people that take it to the extremes that are ruining it for everyone.

Come to think of it, if you look into the Alberta highway and traffic safety act the code says you can't have a modified exhaust tip larger in diameter than was supplied from the factory. I found that gem while looking up noise bylaws. Anyone ever hear of that being enforced? lol

There's also something about minimum 4" ground clearance? I could be wrong about that measurement, but there is something about minimum clearance.

I think it comes down to how knowledgeable the officer is, said individual's mood/temperament and the situation surrounding Johnny Law to be scoping someone out in the first place. If you're some sketchy character and they want to nail you but have very little to go on, or they want to throw the book at you... look out. Otherwise, it's a pass.
