  • Stock rims powder coating

I am looking for a good address around Calgary where to get my stock golf r rims powder coated. By good address I don't mean the cheapest this around, I mean somewhere where the guy know what he is doing and does it right.

I know there is hundreds of pages of arguments pro and con powder coating rims but it's not the question here

Also, I was thinking a dark color for my rising blue golf r sock shoes. What do you guys think? Black? Dark Purple? Copper?

      Re: Stock rims powder coating

I used top gun powdercoating in the past and the guy didn't like the work one of his guys did the first time on my wheels so he stripped them down and got another guy to redo them before telling me they were done. So they were done very well and i have no complaints at all about the quality. They can get quite busy at times so plan to book in advance

As for color what color is your golf R?

On rising blue, I wouldn't go black, I think that black kinda takes away from the design of the wheel, go like a gunmetal/light ish black/grey if you want dark.

How about a bronze/golf with a flake to it

The car is a blue golf r

I wasn't going for black for the same reason you pointed.

I had in mind something like this one below or a matte dark grey

So quick update on the powder coating.

I went to Calgary Powder coating and i have here a sample of 3 colors that could do it.
It might be difficult to see it but the middle sample is a textured grey.

Does anybody has experience on how it looks full scale?
Also for the rims prep (tire/valve removal, curb rash fixing) where should i go?

I thought that powdercoating places would handle prep but if not, take them to alberta wheel repair and let them know you want to get them powder coated after they prep/repair them. +1 for no black but also not crazy about the colours you've chosen. I would just leave them silver if they were mine. Or do a crazy colour. I did my stock wheels "ocean breeze blue" to make them pop during the winter.

I have used JIT powder coaters many times professionally and they do fantastic work. Always top quality. They also have a smaller minimum charge for any smaller projects.

Looks like the same color i did my old wheels, not a terrible color. Definitely looks a tint blue in some light and more grey in other light. Here is a picture indoors and outside for your comparison.
