derek thats was the plan to hopefully this week or next week check out the touareg TDI exec or exec w/rline on it.. then go test a new q7 with the supercharged v6 as i'm only used the the 4.2 q7 my father in law has
Definitely biased, but my vote is Q7, but the price is up there compared to the other options you checked out. My Q5 got up near 60k with all the options, so I'm assuming a loaded Q7 would be well over 80k?
Merc interiors are ****, and keep in mind Jeep sells a lot more vehicles than Audi so they aren't going to give you the extra special service treatment after the fact.
I went looking a couple years ago, ended up with the jeep due to cost and over all build. The jeep had a better 4wd setup, same engine and trans as the sprinters (both mercedes) and was half the cost of anything German built diesel from the same year. 50k km's later I have spent very little on it for the km's I have put on and have been happy with the purchase. The interiors on the jeep are no where near the german quality and won't hold up the same either over time. But since this was a family mover for the wife and my two boys I figured would do a number on it, so interior was not as important.
Keep in mind the jeep in 5 years will be significantly more depreciated then the German suv's if you are looking to unload it then.

I was swayed by the sound of an Infiniti exhaust note. The only good part of that SUV. Ate brakes full set every year owned. Leather looked 20 years old after 1 year. All the plastic buttons flaked and wore out instantly. Having a CV tranny would not be a bad thing in a Infiniti because their auto box sucks.
But what ever diesel SUV you go with definitely get one of these www.chipexpress.com Took my jeep diesel to 310hp and 525 lb/ft and gets better mileage. They have product for every imaginable diesel.
Don't buy a Mercedes! LOL unless you don't mind spending $2000 on oil changes, and $400 on a trunk lock(just for the part) yes trunk lock failing on a 2008 gl550 and random check oil level lights, steering leaks, and oil leaks, and did I mention rust on a noncollision damaged Benz(from chipping the door in parking lots..)...... They are really nice cars until you start having problems, which is quite usual.... Sigh.... I would go with a fully loaded v8 or v6tsi Touareg.
However the level of luxury and comfort is pretty hard to beat in a Benz, also if you get the 5.5 v8 it's a pretty amazing motor, pretty funny to see evo, STI, 335i kids' face after getting beaten by a soccer mom lol, also if you pull the abs fuse it's a pretty awesome drift machine on frozen lakes....
If you don't like the Touareg I'd say the grand Cherokee is the way to go, that off road ability is jaw dropping.
