    Re: World Cup 2014 Thread

So Costa Rica beats Italy, punches their ticket to the next round and officially eliminates England. Wow.

The Italians could not keep up with the Costa Ricans, up and down the pitch, up and down. The Italians looked tired. Its like they ate too much pasta or something.

Argentina vs Iran game was awesome. Shame Iran could not hold on. Soul crushing or what!
Germany and Ghana was entertaining too! End to end stuff.. The clash at the end looked nasty...

Oh man, back in the day, the left side should've been Giggs, Scholes unlocking, Gerrard/Lamps beside the ginger & attacking, Beckham on the other side, Owen up top.
Giggs should have played for England. You would almost have the whole Man Utd team on the pitch. The 98 and 2002 teams were England's strongest. But I don't think they were ever managed to their full potential. I never understood why Scholes was always placed on the left.

I think Terry and Cole should have been selected. If your going for youth, blend it in with some experience, or someone to organise the back three. Thats playground football basic. Thats football politics for you.

Im so gutted England are out. Four years of prep and this... Worse still, Hodgson won't resign.

I think team effort is showing its importance thus far in this World Cup, often some teams with superstars can get by, but some of the performances of teams playing together and with amazing work efforts should make the big guys take notice. I know they have not been overly tested yet but I think people should be wary of France they look hungry and dangerous with a lot of young talent and depth.

The swede and the italian were idiots. Best midfielder England has ever seen, played out of position. Not giving Carrick the time of day, the Terry fiasco.

Man it's been a great World Cup so far. So many goals, lead changes and last minute dramatics. Oh yeah and Chile doing well so far!

                Re: World Cup 2014 Thread

I must say that was awful to watch (portugal vs usa). As a portugal fan, I can honestly say they played like sh!t with absolutely no urgency in the game. They scored the one goal that Howard presented them on a silver platter (he was already on the ground before Nani too the shot), and they sat back and just fiddled around with the ball. Not until the states scored their second goal did they finally realize that they need to step it up. The last goal was beautiful, but the intensity was shown a tad too late.

I hope Portugal can still make it through, but they are gonna have a very tough road ahead of them if they keep playing like that. No doubt the states soccer team has improved tremendously over the past few years, but they are still not a team to be struggling against when you have hopes of winning a world cup!

Really wish I could watch the Netherlands vs Chile today. Thats going to be a great game!

I don't know about Portugal going through.... USA vs Germany... The US manager is the former Germany manager, German world cup and Euro Winner. USA and Germany only need a draw.... Just saying.....

Neatherlands VS Chile was a ok game. Very tactical. It came to life near the end, the goals were really good. I just hope the dutch not peaked like they always do.

I caught the last part of the Mexico vs Croatia. OMG Croatia defence was abysmal. Their attack was not bad. It could have easily been 3-2. Mexico hit three, I was happy as when I eat tacos I usually eat three. It was like me and Mexico had a understanding as I watched the game. But I must say the movement of the Mexican attack was awesome. I can't wait till they meet the Dutch in the next round. My friend is in Brazil and she has tickets to the game!

Chile lost and, yes, it was a very tactical game. Netherlands can definitely finish. Hopefully Chile learns from this and with Vidal in the lineup for Brazil maybe we can surprise them

What a pathetic showing by the Croatian Squad after the opening Mexican goal. Total lack of self respect.

Its a bit pre-mature, but I'm gonna call it now. You will NOT see a better game than Brazil vs Chile this world cup. Unbelievable game right down to the last minute!

Sorry about your team El Presidente. I'm not really a Chile fan, but they have my utmost respect after their performance, and I can truly say I am sad to see them go. They put up a hell of a fight and I wish I could see how far they could have made it. Best of luck to them in the future.

Hope the rest of the tournament will be as lively and entertaining as that game was!

Just watched the Chile game online. Im so gutted Chile did not go through. At penalties the Brazilian goal keeper moved forward twice before the shot was taken. Keeper can't do that. Ref should have had the penalty taken again. Brazil getting a bit of favourable treatment here.

I dunno Arkas its the Dutch vs Mexico tomorrow. On paper that game looks like a box of fireworks...I can't wait... Great teams.. I have no idea who to cheer for.
