  • Mobile Wifi options?

Long story short, I'm a huge soccer fan and want to watch the World Cup while I'm at work. The problem is our wifi at the office sucks, and won't keep up with streaming.

Any ideas as to potential options for wifi to stream the games (presume I will need about 5GB's a week for the next month)?
    - Bell won't let me add it to my Phone (hotspot) without upgrading my plan for the remainder of my contract, and I don't want to pay an extra $40/month for the next 18months.
    - Rocket sticks require an activation fee of $150 even if I buy one off Kijiji (from what I can find anyway).

    Anyone have any ideas?

If it is anything like the olympic hockey, it will likely be a little laggy at time regardless to to the amount of viewers! Can't be sure on this, but we have a pretty high end internet service at my office the olympic streams were struggling to keep up, but only on the big events.

In the case of our office, the wifi is terrible. Can't even watch a youtube video properly.

If I had mobile wifi I think I could use the slingbox as well.....

In my experience mobile wifi sucks too. The companies throttle streaming down to a level where it's like dial up.

I stream video/netflix to my tablet tethered to my phone with great results. Also tether my laptop so that I can remote desktop to office and run Autocad from my workstation, as my laptop is to slow for Autocad. I've been really happy with the speeds.

How much data do you use for this?

It uses a lot, but it a company phone on a sharing plan with a bunch of old guys that don't use the interweb... for the times I use it, usually weekends, it's still cheaper than me going to the office for a few hours.

I had a Rogers LTE mobile hotspot in my car, then the Apple TV would boot up and pick up the wifi network. The Apple TV/XBMC had no troubles live streaming TV on the highway. The screen has a little data counter on the front.
