  • Well now I just feel dumb

I was over at Royal Oak Audi today to grab some stuff for my A4... And I couldn't help but ogle and sit in a S4. What a sweet car!

But now... I'm considering that maybe having two cars and only having the M for winter is impractical for someone of my age, and that more money towards a house (downsize to one car, maybe a E30 as a toy) is more better... I ended up talking to a salesman just out of curiosity, and they would likely take the M3 as trade for a fully loaded 2014 S4 + extra goodies.

I know that seems pretty stupid (I feel dumb typing it), just buying the car, but something in the back of my head isn't 100% happy with it, theres always a thrill and special feeling when driving it, but theres also a huge fear in the back of my head, and going back to the A4 or 335 just seems paltry in comparison. I'm always scared to drive it due to the paint, and I'm not 100% thrilled putting it away for half a year. I almost feel like my specific M3 should be sitting in some older BMW collector's show garage. Having something that gave me that same thrill but was useful all season would be a dream come true!

Really stupid question, but do any of you have a B8 S4 that you wouldn't mind taking me for a spin in? Audi wouldn't let me try one, and I just wanted to get a "feel" for one compared to the M, obviously there will be some differences, but I'd like to get a feel.

Of-coarse, if I got one I'd probably have to tune it Likelly stasis.

I've always though owning a car for just summer is dumb. if I'm gonna own a car i love, i wouldn't be letting it sit in a garage for 8 months every year. Cars are meant to be driven.

tj's s4 has a tune and it is already crazy. superchargers sound unreal, and obviously amazing for winter.

stasis is gonzo, but i think revo kinda took them over?

Not from what I understood on the Revo thing.

I believe STaSIS was bought out by Revo... If you go on their website, it's now the STaSIS Revo Group.

Back on topic, my uncle has had two now... a 2011 B8 and 2014 B8.5. He says it's by far his favourite car and he's planning on keeping this one for a long time. I haven't driven a tuned on yet, but even stock they're fairly quick.

Off topic again, sorry. Stasis owns that website and Revo has nothing to do with it from what I heard. Revo's website is revotechnik.com

Ahhh... Was talking to the salesman and he was talking about stasis a bit, he was very excited to see the M3, he used to work at BMW.

It's gonna pain me to see the M go, but I think it deserves a home with a collector, not a young kid who will actually drive it and expose it to the elements. That and practicality is really taking principle here.

The thing Danny said about summer cars... So true. I'm like a toddler, I'll cry if you take my toys away for a season.

From what I understand they compete with the 335is, but tend to vastly outperform them.

The 2013 and onward S4/S5 is still uncrackable isn't it?

I'm going to be the old guy in the room and say something only old guys would to younger people. You don't need more/less cars, what you need is a financial advisor. All this impulse buying of toys, what is the end result? If it was myself I would get one good year round vehicle that you could be happy with, buy a house and invest some of that money you received from your father. You might think I don't know what I'm talking about, but when my father dies I will inherit an oilfield company. The difference is I'm in my mid 30's with two kids and a wife. My priorities are different than some one such as yourself in your 20's. I would rather have a little now with more down the road(and a lot more money in my pocket) or you can have everything right now and potentially being broke sooner than you think. But that's just my 2 cents.

I've yet skimmed the surface, this is my self allotted "fun" money.

This is what I was looking at... http://www.revotechnik.com/stasis-revo-group-brands/

The same thing more or less is also on the STaSIS website http://stasisengineering.com/stasis-revo-group-brands

It sounds to me like they're very closely related now, but I could be wrong.

The S4/S5 is the 335 competitor and the RS4/RS5 is the M3 competitor. I haven't driven a 335, so I can't really comment on performance. I know STaSIS had a tune for the 2013/14 models and from what I can see on the APR website, it looks like they have one as well.

Owned a 335, the stock performance was alright, nothing special, more high power luxury. The S4 seems more performance oriented to me, it also seems to have a much higher top end for power via tuning. The 335 with the N54 peaks at about 380-400 with stock turbos (changing turbos requires the engine to be dropped), the S4 seems to easily exceed that.
